Really nice paved trail that runs along side the river. Listen to the current of the water as you jog or cycle or listen to the birds chirping early in the morning. I choose to listen to my iPod at times when there are multiple people on the trail. The location is very quiet and peaceful but still close to a major road. Maps along the path to show mileage and location. A great workout place.

The trail is awesome! Very nice paved trail with gentle hills and nice curves that keep you wondering what is around the next turn. Beautiful views of the Catawba River with few access points (great for dogs). There are however, very few receptacles farther down the trail for dog waste, and honestly I don't want to go for a walk holding onto a bag of dog poop...not very relaxing. Park keepers regularly ride through and it seems very safe, but would definitely be safer and pleasant with a buddy! Spring is a great time to see wildlife of the slithery type, but not a huge deterrence.

You could be miles away from the city as you walk along the river on this well maintained and popular trail, yet you can enjoy the outdoors with ease.

Approximately 2-mile, asphalt-paved trail on the banks of the Catawba River. Excellent for exercise or sightseeing.

This is a great trial to walk, run or bike. It's perfect to do alone or with your family. The shaded trial is fairly comfortable even in the hottest summer days. This is, by far, my favorite place to run in the area.

Initially called The Riverwalk (and the community around it still is), the PMCT is approx. 4.5 miles (out and back) of paved, gently rolling train next to the Catawba river (approx. 6 miles from the hospital from which it gets its current name), well-suited for walking year round. Trees provide shade over almost the entire path for waking on steamy summer days; however, bring your own water. A variety of park benches and grassy areas are available for rest or reflection. Since the trail is shared by bicyclists and pet-fanciers, some walking caution is advised. Drop off areas are available for those with physical limitations, though some trail areas might be a bit too rolling for some with disabilities. Well worth taking the time for a leisurely visit!

This is a paved path that runs right along the Catawba River in Rock Hill. The path is well maintained and wide enough to accomodate walkers, runners and bicycles. This is a great walk through lots of trees with the river in constant view and you have the opportunity to see some wildlife as well along the way. If you are a mountain biker they have a trail just for you as well. I have yet to take my bike up that trail but this summer I'm sure I'll be doing just that with my son. There are no restrooms along the trail and I would recommend taking a water bottle if you want to walk the full length. There is also a kayak/canoe launch/takeout for anyone who has their own equipment. Many people put in at the Lake Wylie Dam in Fort Mill on Dam Rd. and take out either at this location or just down river a little at River Park.

I get excited when I see the parking lot full and people walking in groups on the Riverwalk. It is lovely to walk, jog along the trail. You can take a break and check out the river up close, get your bike or scooter on the trail, or simply take some food and picnic in some of the areas. There are not any picnic tables that I am aware of, but you can make a picnic area in some of the open spaces. Get your kayak and cruise down to the River Park or take a longer trip and go from Sutton Road in Ft Mill access at the dam and go all the way to the Riverwalk. It is approx. a 2 hour trip, depending on the water flow. My husband and I love the Riverwalk and it's trails.

Great location, free parking and beautiful views of the Catawba River. The trail is not too crowded to run but not deserted either (however you need to share the road with cyclists). Path is nicely paved and wide. It is almost 2.5 miles long but it is not a loop so running all the way and returning can give you almost 5 miles!
