Great beer and patio. Very nice staff and had a solid selection of crafts. Glad we went on our visit to columbia! Have the peanut butter porter...amazing.

Great staff! Felt like we were regulars! Very friendly and knew the beers! We got there around 4:30 and were 2 of 8 in the place. Within a few minutes it was packed. Great selection of beer! Loved them all. Will be back again and again!

Great beer! Get a flight can't go wrong. River rat red is a favorite. The staff is friendly and informative about their beer. Atmosphere is comfortable as well. A great place to visit is Columbia, SC.

There are now a number of breweries in Columbia, SC (yeah!) and River Rat sets the high mark for best overall experience. Excellent beers, classy fun indoor atmosphere, dog friendly outdoor area, tasty cheese or charcuteri (meat) boards, as well as visiting food trucks. Staff is friendly, helpful and laid back. They also serve wines for your hop and barley challenged friends. Highly recommend!

The River Rat Brewery offers a wonderful thirst quenching selection of beers. It is October so what better month to enjoy some fine beer. Much more cost efficient to visit to local beer garden in Columbia than to jet to Germany. Impressed by how the brewery was also supporting the arts as a sponsor of the concert performed by the Columbia Symphony featuring works by Beethoven. But the essential item here is the beer. A fine IPA made my day! Sunday evening there may not be a band, but there are ideal conditions to savour some outstanding craft beer.

The beer is some of my favorite in town! They brew it all in the back of their bar and the various selections are all delicious! Be sure to get a flight so you can try all of them! The bartenders are very knowledgable and friendly too! They don't have food, but don't let that deter you from stopping by! The quality of beer is too good to pass up if you're looking to grab a pint with friends!

River Rat Brewery opened in Spring 2014 with several fabulous craft beer offerings. There is great tap room and a dog-friendly deck and grassy yard to enjoy the beer offerings on tap. On most weekends there are food trucks and bands in the outdoor area which makes for a fun spot to enjoy an afternoon with old friends or to make new ones over a cold craft beer and a game of cornhole. The owner and staff are great and their love of craft beer is obvious!! We enjoyed the tour of the brewhouse and we look forward to returning to see how they have grown since their opening.
