Wow! What an amazing place! You must go at least once!!! The music the atmosphere and the welcome are amazing.
My teenage daughter attended Fuse Youth Service on Wednesday nights. She may as well have been attending a convention for druggies. Kids have their troubles, but if you have a good kid, don't send them here. This place is a magnet for boys trying to hook up. The church is doing a good service in trying to help the unchurched screwed up kids, but again, send your teen here and expect some ramifications if you have an impressionable child. My daughter has met some terrible people here, and it has definitely caused our family much turmoil and stress, as our impressionable daughter has been influenced by this low life-element that has infiltrated this youth service.
They throw a good party, good band (if you like that kind of music) and it must appeal to people who are looking for something other than the traditional church atmosphere. But there is no denying that this is just another money-making venture by Perry Noble. Perry's sermons (rants) are not really biblical (his version of the bible) but they (his sermons) are filed with plenty of guilt-ridden tithing propaganda so they can make more money to build more facilities. As long as you understand what's going on at NewSpring and you find it acceptable then I guess it's the place for you. Not for me. I don't like to be scammed.
Friendly staff and volunteers. Very well organized. The music is contemporary but very well done. It is a very big church which was intimidating at first, but all you have to do is talk to one of the volunteers or staff (and they are everywhere) and you can get a prompt, friendly answer. Also the message was spot on. The preacher is really down to earth and very funny.
Truly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the great music that was very uplifting, and the heart hitting message that you can actually take with you for the week and use.....all good here!
We began attending Newspring Lexington on the first Sunday it started. We are Christians who have attended church for many years, but have not found a contemporary church we felt at home at since moving to Lexington, as contemporary pickings are pretty slim around here. Although Newspring was a little more contemporary then even we were used to (opening the service with Highway to Hell, etc.), and we weren't thrilled about a "piped in pastor", we were willing to give it a try. We enjoyed it and continued to attend regularly for several months, after which we heard they were having an "owners class" the following week. Wanting to learn more about the church and get involved, we eagerly signed up. The night of the class, we were literally driving in to the parking lot at 6:25 (class started at 6:30) and my cell phone rang twice - two different people from Newspring calling to make sure we were coming. WE WEREN'T LATE!!! Once inside, we were handed off to someone who walked us to pick up dinner and took us to our destination, then drilled us with questions (which was fine, they were showing interest in us, no problem at all with that). We were then shown a video promoting Newspring, talking about its growth, how many attendees they eventually want, how many baptisms they've had, etc., etc. Finally the campus pastor got up to speak. I had often thought when he spoke during the services that he sounded kind of "canned" (the only time he speaks during the service is to welcome everyone, give a few announcements, ask for money, and pray - other than that Pastor Perry is piped in). But I thought hey, the poor guy has to say the same thing week after week after week, he probably has it memorized and says it in his sleep. Well, I was disappointed to learn that he sounded like that even when he did have a chance to be the speaker. How to describe it? Sort of like a well-rehearsed salesman. Very television-y voice. He made his "pitch", and we were then all handed a piece of paper and told to fill out our information. The others in attendance immediately bent over their papers and started filling them out. I took a look at it and told my husband, "this is an ownership contract. I'm not ready to make a decision about becoming an owner right this minute, we simply wanted to hear from the campus pastor, learn more about the church, and see where we might fit in, then go home and talk about it and pray about it." My husband looked and was shocked to realize I was right. We called one of the volunteers over and told them such, and you would have thought we said we were international terrorists. He could not understand why we would not want to fill the paperwork out immediately. After some interrogation (and yes, that's the most descriptive word for it), he slowly - while talking to us, so as to not make it seem so obvious - walked us to the door and bid us goodnight. That was in November, 2014. They have our contact information (obviously, since they called twice to make sure we were coming!!) and we've not heard a SINGLE WORD from them since. No call to say "hey, we know you attended class but didn't become an owner, are there any questions we can answer or anything we can do to help you make your decision?" Silence. I can only assume they figured they wouldn't be able to persuade us to join them once we had time to actually digest things. And you know what? I'm glad they didn't try. Church to us is about being somewhere that suits our family and where we feel led to participate (we've always been in that 20% of people who volunteer). Church to us is NOT about how many new owners there were since last week or how many baptisms there haven been since last month. Yes, those things are important, I'm not denying that. A church that doesn't grow is not reaching out to the lost, and a church that doesn't have baptisms is not making disciples out of the people that are attending. But our experience was that these things are the be all and end all to Newspring. If we didn't want to become part of the clan immediately, we were dropped from the radar. I know there are people that absolutely LOVE the church, and I think that's great. There is room for all kinds of churches out there, and if they are truly bringing people to Christ, I applaud them. I have a family member who attends who has been set on fire for Christ since attending, and I couldn't be happier for him. Their high pressure sales tactics just weren't for us. And obviously our desire to pray and determine the right path for our family was not for them.
I went from moral outrage in the first five minutes to humble gratitude for such "inspired vision" of the PRIMARY PURPOSE! Newspring is a modern venue to a tradition dependent "old boys club" approach to the most fundamental question in life! What happens to me when its over? Give this a shot, i was inspired by actually going with an openmind while leaving my stodgy old conservative prejudice at the door. We all have to be fed, we dont all like the same "style", join me, grow up and be greatful for the effort even if you didnt get what YOU wanted there, lol. I prefer old gospel music ANY DAY but IT AINT ABOUT ME!!GREGORY KRABBE SIMPSONVILLE
Everyone is welcome. Attire is casual. The staff and volunteers do everything they can to make sure your experience is exceptional.
Warning: If you have to be use the restroom, a hulky body guard will escort you to the door and politely open it for you. Don't expect to come back in- out come the POLICE OFFICERS and Men in Black to tell you that you can't reenter. No exceptions. This was at the GREENVILLE 6PM CAMPUS.
I have been a Christian for over twenty years and in church all of my life. When my family began looking for another church home, we prayed that God would lead us to the right place. We were invited to NewSpring several times, but I was skeptical based on what I had heard, and put off our visit numerous times. When I finally gave in, I took part in a service where I worshipped, laughed, cried, and most of all - received BIBLICAL teachings. Now my family has made NewSpring our church home, and it is one of the best decisions we have ever made. No, it isn't traditional, and the music is loud - but the BIBLE is taught, people are being saved, and lives are being changed. Found people are finding people for Jesus at this church! "Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit" - Matthew 7:17. NewSpring is bearing good fruit, which makes me wonder why others are so judgmental of it. I am so thankful Jesus didn't judge worthiness of grace the way people do!
Off the hook, awesome! God is doing incredible things at this place! I loved how kind and helpful everyone was!
I grew up bored in church all of my life, staring off into space, counting the minutes until it was over, writing notes to the person next to me on the bulletin, and daydreaming about what I would eat for lunch. Newspring held my attention the entire time. I never even had to look at my watch or cell phone to see what time it was. It presents information in a relevant, relatable, easy to understand way. I am now church spoiled and I never want to go anywhere else!
Only one word can describe my experience at NewSpring Church... AWESOME! The music, the message and the staff combined to make this the best church experience I have ever had. This church is doing a great service to a world in need of the good news of Jesus.
we were there for a conference. all volunteers and staff we encountered were very welcoming and friendly.
I was so skeptical and honestly disliking of the loud music.(even though I am a music lover) Then it clicked, I accepted an alternative way to worship. I love it now. I honestly think that it was just culture shock that got me. I have found a church my younger daughters and grandchildren love to go to. God is awesome and works wonders!
