US 276 is a great route between Greenville and Brevard. Either way you can stop at Caesar's Head, walk about 100 yards and have a 50 mile view of SC, NC and GA. When in the Brevard area you can stop at Oscar Blues, Sierra Nevada or New Belgium (or a host of smaller breweries in the area). Raven Cliff falls, on the same route, is a nice jaunt for a hiking family. I suppose a couple miles from the trail head parking lot which is right on 276.
My sister came down to SC for the first time and I took her up to Raven Cliff Falls. It was January but a warm day and without the leaves on the trees the views are in a way even more beautiful. The overlook of the falls is far away, but we were able to see it clearly, and according to the very nice and informative park rangers, was the best choice in trails for the season. We packed a picnic lunch and had an amazing day! Go EARLY it gets really crowded by early afternoon and they will close the park if they reach capacity.
Always enjoy the view off Caesars Head lookout and have been there in every season. It always offers something different to appeal to the photographer in me and I enjoy offering to take photos of others with their camera so they can be together in the picture for their memories.
A Statepark that isn't large, small about of walking, but offers a beautiful scenery. Go while the leaves are changing color is an extra bonus to enjoy.
So I got there late in the day but didn't have much time to explore too much so I decided to drive up to view the Caesars Head Overlook after hearing so much about it. Let me say that the view was incredible and looking across the way at the Table Rock was stunning. The nice thing is the visitor center is right there a long with bathrooms although they are currently closed. It was nice and calming to stand there and look out and watch the sunset. This time of year bring a jacket and some extra layers because the wind can pick up and it can get quite chilly as the sun starts to set. Overall a great place to stop when you are tired from hiking. Even if you are just passing through, make sure you stop at this overlook and take in the stunning view that it provides.
Lots and lots to see, bring some excellent walking shoes a battery or two for your cellphone, map, gps, water bottles, and snacks, my family got lost for a few hours, but got to see lots of waterfalls, wildlife and a new respect for exercise and Mineral Ice the next several days. The views are Awesome.
Depending on the time of year, the drive is stunning. Once you make it to Caesars Head State Park, the view will make the trip worth it.
Unbelievably awesome views and some really challenging hiking opportunities. Be prepared to carry out whatever you may have carried in with you, as they are super-serious about their pristine mountain trails!
Great place to visit & see some wonderful sites. Not only hiking but birding. A must stop & see. Feeling like you are on top of the world.
Ceaser's head was a breath taking experience. We enjoyed the picnic tables outside of the viewing area. We did not enjoy the profane graffiti on some of the rocks and railing, but overall an excellent way to spend an afternoon
Stopped by here briefly before dropping one of our son's off a nearby church camp for the week. You sometimes forget how beautiful our part of the country really can be. Would love to spend more time here in the future.
This is not a traditional state park. If you like hiking and backcountry camping then this is the place for you. Caesar's Head State Park is joined with Jones Gap State Park with trails and campsites between the two. Caesars Head is about 20 minutes from the NC/SC state line (not too far from Camp Greenville - aka Pretty Place). The most popular trail is Raven's Cliff because you can go to see one of the tallest waterfalls in the state. It's a nice hike and is moderate but a little disappointing because you're looking across to the waterfall. I'd say that it takes a couple of hours to get to the end of the trail and back. It depends on how fast you walk and if you have children. If you have small children, then I'd recommend Frank Coggins which is right acroos the road from the visitors center. It is a short loop trail and is the easiest trail in the park. My personal favorite combo of trails would be Coldspring and Jones Gap trail. Park in the parking lot you'd take to go to Raven's Cliff. It will take about 3 hrs (give or take a few). This is an excellent loop to do in the summer, especially if you have dogs. It's also very pretty in the spring and fall. Another great option is the Jones Gap Trail. I'd recommend doing this with a friend. You and the friend meet at Jones Gap State Park, leave one car there, and carpool up to Caesar's Head, park and hike down the trail. Be sure to stop at the Jones Gap Falls (you will see the sign). When you finish, you can drive back up to Caesars Head.
AMAZING, AWESOME, GREATNESS, GORGEOUS!!! I have no words to describe this amazing place!!! When you come to the South come check it out for yourself!! =)
Simply a beautiful place! Nice little gift shop. A bit primative in the way of places to sit, picnic, etc. but that is the beauty of it.
This place is just beyond words. The view is breathtaking, you will not be disappointed. I went with my entire family and we all agreed this was the best place we visited.
