The artwork was absolutely breathtaking and the paintings, artifacts, etc. were beautifully displayed. The tour guide was very knowledgable and we would certainly go again. What a priceless collection!
The gallery is absolutely a special place to see some incredible art .... amazing both artistically and historically. Totally unique for anywhere in the country. Works by amazing artists. Take time to read up on the artists and the different art periods in history. It is incredibly interesting. A quiet and peaceful way to spend some leisure time. Audio tour available also.
We are sorry that you were disappointed with your visit to the Museum & Gallery. We do welcome children here, which is why admission is free for them. We offer special activities for children to do in the galleries at both of our locations and our customer service attendants are happy to help with giving information about these. Our admission fees are minimal ($5 for adults, $4 for seniors) and our collection contains art from many of the same artists you would find in the Louvre and Vatican collections (among many others). We hope you’ll consider coming again and learn more about the collection and its significance
This small but very interesting museum has art that would make many large museums quite envious. Many large works by established masters grace the walls. The place is attractive and nicely laid out. The staff is friendly and not overbearing, but helpful when you want information. There are many types of work, including wood and architectural pieces as well. Inexpensive admission makes it especially attractive.
This museum has an amazing amount of religious art, especially for a city the size of Greenville. Would highly recommend seeing this if in the area.
Visited with grandchildern for a Victorian Christmas event. Museum and activities are outstanding. This is a great place to visit while in Greenville.Very unique opportunity to see some great paintings and artifacts. You want be disappointed.
Went there by accident with a large party. I love art and been to museums across the world. This is exceptional for it location. Yes, it is religious art as everyone says but the majority of art in the world is religious. This is a great museum and worth the trip. I think you will be surprised at the quality of the exhibits. And they are real nice to visitor.... much more personal than most museums.
Many pieces by famous masters. Nearly all with religious relevance. Considerate and aimiable staff. If you are not into religious art, don't bother.
The art reflects, Italian, French, German and much more nicely displayed a nice way to spend an afternoon without going to European museum!
During a visit to Greenville, SC on October 16, 2014 my wife and I visited the Bob Jones Museum & Gallery. The modest admission fee was well worth the price. We were amazed by the quality and variety of classic paintings and artifacts on display in the galleries, which were professionally designed and arranged. The museum and gallery is only open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is a must visit if you are in the area.
A fantastic Christian art collection. The Bible is depicted beautifully. The Saints come alive. My favorites were the portrait of Jesus with tears in his eyes and the Holy Family with Mary feeding Jesus. The intimate Joseph holding the infant and gazing in his eyes. Much preferred the Roman Renaissance. Only drawback was difficulty navigating through the exhibit & the super small print on the plaques beside the paintings.
My first time touring the museum was an outstanding experience and it continues to be so every time I return.
We toured the museum and the theater, excellent. The paintings are from 16th century thru the 18th. Must see,
This Museum is amazing. I could spend hours looking at the exquisite Christian art. There are paintings that you would not see anywhere else in the world.
You must see this collection! It is amazing! It opens at 2:00 pm and closes at 5:00 pm. You need every bit of that time. Dress warm as the air conditioning is kept very low. We were not offered the audio tour, and I think that would have been better. The priceless pieces of art are amazing. The paintings are from lesser known artists from the 14th century on up but, whereas most collections feature a few extremely famous artists, this collection features numerous lesser known artists. There were about 30 rooms full of paintings. Most pieces were enormous and displayed very well. You are asked to leave bags and bring only minimal on walking tour. There is no guide but there are attendants in every corner. They are friendly but remind you to stand no closer than 12 inches from the art and no touching. This is why it is better to pay an extra $3.00 on top of the $5.00 entrance fee, to hear the written descriptions. After straining your eyes for hundreds of pieces of art descriptions my eyes hurt. So my biggest disappointment was that no one offered the auditory tour and we did not know about it until later.
