Great place to visit, grew up with Wylie Lake and fishing as a kid, still has that attraction, except there are no cat tales and reeds all around the shoreline like it was in the 60's. All kids should spend some time fishing here, worth the time.
Although it was rainy the day we came we still had a lot of fun turning a regular park into a water park. But I would love to come back on a dry day but we just didn't have time.
Great picnic and camping facilities with playgrounds and a duck pond nearby plus the lake, bike and skate rentals, mini golf, go karts, trampolines and a laser maze. Fun place for family get-togethers.
It was a great place to relax with family and we enjoyed it very much! Very neat and clean and a lot of fun. The camping areas are great and the little cabins are very nice.
Not too busy compare to major well known attractions. We rented a four-wheel surrey bicycle to check the whole area before we walked in and enjoy the amenities this park has to offer. There were many things to do but since there weren't so many people, some rides were closed. We enjoyed the storybook land due to its colorful scenery. The Land of Oz is a place you could walk around and feel you're in a medieval time. If you're tired and wish to relax, just ride the train and it'll give you a good mile of relaxing scenery.
We drove down to Aberdeen for a weekend of family fun with our little family - it is just a nice distance to take the kids for an easy weekend of easy activities. Wylie park has lots of different things to offer - camping, a swimming/fishing (for children only)lake, go karts, bumper boats, mini golf, bike rentals and the cute little cart bike (not sure what they are called!) rentals, lots of playgrounds, a small wildlife exhibit and of course Storybook land! There are many picnic shelters of all sizes to accommodate a small family or a big group. I am sure I missed something, but that is what we saw! Storybook Land is definitely worth a trip, especially with little ones, but even fun as a date night idea. We had a picnic lunch in one of the shelters, spent time at the playground, the zoo and the bumper boats. Very nice!!
Bumper Boats, Go-Carts and Bungie jumping, we tried them all! Nice clean beach, and lots of fun things to do. We'll be back!
We were driving home from a camping trip (5th wheel) to the Black Hills and just looking for anywhere to stay. Boy did we get lucky when we found Wylie Park! The campground was spotless (other than the previous camper leaving their garbage in the firepit) and the service at check-in was good. Our grandkids loved being able to take a swim in the beautiful little lake that evening. The next day we had a great time riding our bikes through the zoo and then walking through Storybook Land. Couldn't believe there was not extra charge for these activities! I thought the 11-yr old might be bored with Storyland but she loved it too. Wizard of Oz Land was fun also - loved the tornado in the house, and walking the yellow brick road. I have already recommended this park/campground to family and friends!
The Aberdeen area is known for some great hunting and fishing, but Wylie Park is definitely a diamond in the rough! The park has everything a family needs for a day or weekend trip: camping, swimming, fishing, recreation, playgrounds, zoo, Storybook Land, the Land of Oz, biking, go-karts and much, much more. It is clean, well-kept and well run; definitely a destination for every family.
We stayed at Wylie Park Campground 3 nights. We brought our camper and found the sites to be spacious and even. Our site was adjacent to the park and just in front of a playground, which was great for the kids. With the activities the park features- Storybook Land (free), mini-golf, go-karts, beach, boat rental, biking and rollerblading trails- you won't lack for activities.A great park for a fun family getaway.
Attached with Storybook Land, there is lots todo. A mini golf course, gocarts, bike rentals, camping and swimming. Great picnic spots. Can spend the whole day here.
Accomidations were ok and there was plenty to do to keep the kids entertained. The train and the concessions stand were most visited.
We visited for a family-reunion-type event. Overall, our stay was OK. We were in one of the cabins, which was OK, but not great. Unfortunately, our son got sick the first night and we had a mess in the cabin to clean up. I'm not sure why, in this day and age, that campgrounds feel the need to provide cabins without running water and a toilet. I observed that they are adding more of these cabins. Any other time, I would probably not have an issue about the lack of water, but it sure made this visit inconvenient. Also, the cabins were a bit cramped for space and the beds in the cabin were NOT comfortable, again, the campgrounds attempt at a true camping experience??? The RV spots looked pretty good if you have an RV. Apart from the cabin, Wylie Park is a great place for the kids and grandkids. There is an abundance of activities and a nice combination of free and for-a-fee activities.
Carefully follow signage to various park features--roads can be confusing. This is a wonderful park with excellent recreation features for entire family
Great place, especially for kids, but adults have a good time also. There could be more activities for adults onlt groups
