Played the Champions course in a Carolinas Golf Association one-day tournament. A great layout with lots of elevation change and tight fairways (generally bunkers on both sides). Very well maintained for a muni and well worth the price. I wish I lived closer, I would play it every week if I could. And the 19th hole was awesome too, great food and a good selection of draft beers.
Played the Champions course a couple of times and found it to be an excellent course, many scenic shots, with quick greens and strategic bunkers. It plays fairly long but offers challenges to any golfer, who selects the appropriate tees for their ability. Not sure who would play the course from the tips (at 7200 yards), but our group played just fine from the next tee deck (6700 yards). Lots of tough shots, but very do-able. The course was in excellent shape, with firm greens, lots of quick putts. Best value for dollar we found in the area (Senior rate, $30 with cart). WOW
We played the Champions Course which encircles the Players Course and gives amazing views of the water. Seven of the holes end at or border the lake. Fees include a bucket of balls at the driving range, so make sure and take advantage of the opportunity to warm up before hitting the links. Our only objection (and this is more about us than the course) is that the holes are designed with long-ball hitters in mind. For those of us without the ability to blow out 300 yard tee shots, some of the holes, the 15th hole hole with two fully blocking water hazards in particular, becomes very frustrating. Also, drop zones are not marked, so use your best judgement. The fairways are in good (but not perfect) condition and the green are tightly mowed and remained fast from morning through midday. Course marshals and drink service were very visible and helpful throughout the day. There is a full bar and grill and the staff there was friendly and helpful. By contrast, the Pro Shop staff was disinterested at best when we went in to look at shoes and equipment. We may have bought some gear had we gotten an acknowledgement of any kind, or even more than a grunt to our questions / comments. The carts are electric and handled the hilly terrain quite well. There are a few holes where carts are path only, with steep inclines/declines to navigate so there's a fair amount of walking involved. All around it was a good experience and we would definitely play this course again. The views alone are worth the trip.
I held a golf tournament here and had a good experience with them. My only complaint was that the staff was not as phone responsive as I would have like on the day of my event. However once I got there everything went smoothly and everyone seemed to have a great time.
We held our school proms here and I attended a few championship golf tournaments. The course is beautiful as well as the facilities.
Bryan Park has 2 of the better golf courses in Greensboro, especially the Champions Course. The condition of the courses are usually in very good shape. At times in the summer, the greens get beat up because of the heat. Overall, I would recommend both course with the Champions course being a must play.
Absolutely give it a try if you are a golfer. It recently hosted the USGA regional Amateur event. Champions is a bit more scenic, with more water. Super rates, so investigate.
