I belong to the Cary Arts Center and I cannot begin to tell you how lucky we are to have such amenities for such an affordable price in our neighborhood!
The old Cary high school has been converted to a wonderful art gallery and concert hall. Lots of interesting programs.
It's very cool how they preserved the history of Downtown Cary's central landmark building while giving it a very fresh, bright, modern facelift. I've seen several outstanding shows there by the Cary Ballet Conservatory and musical productions too. The acoustics are great and the mid-sized theater feels warm and friendly. It's affordable for family nights. (Free parking too!)You still need to go to DPAC or Downtown Raleigh for the bigger Broadway productions/concerts; but whenever possible, I prefer the no hassle/ non-stuffy, affordable vibe at Cary Arts Center and supporting the high caliber local cultural arts groups such as Cary Ballet Conservatory, Cary Players, Concert Singers, etc. Another fun feature is that you can walk around inside the building and see artists creating, and classes going on. Unlike most theaters there is always artsy activity going on at CAC.
I loved the Cary Theater, Cary Players are Awesome. The seating can be very accommodating. The sound was good, all seats are great viewing. I would surly buy tickets again for this cute Theater. Don't let me forget the little cute waiting area before doors open with a concession stand with homemade cookies, cupcakes and drinks Last night before the show Cary Players sang Christmas Carols. Now that was a plus anyone. Great job Cary Players!
There is always something fun going on. There is always something to do. Music, theater, art, sculpture, special occasions. Check it out !
Community events, with local artisans and art products, are held here and it has become a very dynamic site for the arts. A variety of local festivals are held here, in conjunction with local and religious holidays.
An excellent example of adaptive reuse, and historical preservation, Neoclassical Revival building was a former high school. The Town of Cary purchased the building for use as a cultural arts center. Local arts organizations utilize the facility for concert performances, art exhibits, theater productions, rehearsals, and learning center. The Mayor and Town Council have come together in cooperation with local merchants, businesses, and residents to revitalize, and recharge the downtown environment. Take a walk around town during Cary Art Loop Final Friday Art Walk to see what else downtown has to offer.
