Compared to modern stadiums the Dean Dome doesn't have world class amenities but in terms of enjoying a game it's my second favorite stadium behind old Chicago Stadium. The Dean Dome gets loud and has great sight lines. Really not a bad seat in the house. Can't wait to come back
great place to watch the UNC Tarheels! clean stadium with lots of school pride. I sat in the lower section of 213 and had a great view! Always a fun time.
Named after the 2nd best coach in NC basketball history, this place is truly a treasure. Past fans were given the nickname of a 'wine-and-cheese' crowd due to their lack of enthusiasm at home games. This quiet atmosphere led many to believe UNC fans felt some sort of entitlement after counting alumni like Michael Jordan. My personal experience was that the crowd had excellent energy, and I met some wonderful people there. I would recommend nearby Duke University to see the 1000+win Hall of Fame Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils in Cameron Indoor Stadium for a truly historic night of basketball.
If you come here be prepared to be a part of the electric atmosphere. Awesome signage, well-planed music and commentary, and a great game! I did not like the concession prices which a unfortunately a part of most similar arenas.
I went to Chapel Hill to watch a game. I received so much more. The energy in the Dean Center during a game is electrifying! So glad I was privileged to be a part of this experience.
simply amazing. The parking was ample and the parking lot attendants were out in full throttle. There was one parking lot reserved just for handicapped patrons directly across from the stadium, but getting inside was odd since STAIRS were all around leading to inside. Once inside, there were plently of signs indicating seats, bathrooms, concessions, you name it.Albeit a vast sea of CAROLINA BLUE could be seen for days, the one downside if any would be the seats. As one would stand to permit a passerby, their dexterity would prompt a moment of discomfort for the party behind you due to the pliabiltiy of the chairbacks. Also, it can be hard to hear the announcers if a section to your immediate left OR right is engaged in conversation. Overall, its not a bad venue.
Have had season tix for twenty years - and love very game.My kids grew up going to tarheel games, and are always up for a game
My first trip to Chapel Hill and the only thing on my mind was Carolina basketball. Used my Spidie senses and drove straight to the Dean Dome. Went up to the front door and walked right in. Not a person in sight but the place was all lit up. Absolutely spectacular! I've seen this court hundreds of times on TV, with all its banners hanging from the rafters. Until you see it in person it's not real. Well.. Now it's real for me and I am one happy NCAA basketball fan. Can't wait to see a game here. Highly recommend a visit.
While in Chapel Hill as a lifelong basketball fan I just wanted to spend a few minutes at this gym that I have seen so many games on TV. It walked around the main level of the stadium taking in photos of all the basketball teams and remembering the players and coaches.I didn't have time to visit the Museum next door!Chapel Hill is a lovely college town and the university which is entwined with the town has a beautiful campus. My wife and I enjoyed walking through and especially enjoyed the Ackland Art Museum.
I graduated from UNC many, many years ago. I have always followed their basketball teams. This was a trip down memory lane. This is the best basketball venues I have ever seen.
What an awesome experience watching a game in the Dean Smith Center! I just sat there and took it all in...from the crowd, the game, the entire atmosphere! If you get a chance check it out. Bucket list...check!
If you want to experience the best college basketball gameday experience then you have to go to the Deandome. You see and feel the history from the banners in the rafters. All ages can enjoy the experience of a game here. If possible, pay the extra money to go to a UNC-Duke rivalry game.
Here is the place to go watch the UNC TarHeels play basketball. It's big and noisy and a typical college arena.
Great time watching the Heels beat Pitt. Carolina Blue or white T shirt for every fan so the Dome was 'striped'. Excellent place to watch a basketball game.
This place gave me goosebumps from the moment I walked inside! Came from Nebraska to watch the Carolina-Clemson game and absolutely loved it!
