I travel to Davidson every few months just to visit the Wooden Stone Gallery. I love the fact that the items sold in the gallery are made in the USA, are created by local artists, and are beautiful. The staff is friendly and not pushy. You feel very comfortable browsing - no sales pressure. I like to buy gifts that are unique - items that will be treasured through the years, and I always find a great piece at the gallery!
I dropped in after my neighbors recommended the shop. While the store is filled with independent artist that are selling thru this co-op, the staff is far from friendly & not the least bit interested in engaging customers. I'd go back but I really don't like be treated so disrespectful.
Make sure you stop in a menu for every taste. From casual to great dinners wether for 2 or for 20 you will be well taken care of.
Buy gifts for yourself or others! This is a artisans gallery. Lovely handcrafted furniture, pottery, jewelry, glassware...Also, I took a cooking class there through Davidson Parks & Rec.
I purchased a plate from their website. The arrived and looked nothing like the picture online. I understand there is variation but this wasn't even close. Their costumer service is awful. I have had to call them numerous times to get my money back after returning it and I just get excuse after excuse!
The Wooden Stone raises the standards for showcasing artisan craftsmanship. Beautiful pieces of one-of-a-kind jewelry, pottery, art glass, and wood are artfully displayed throughout the store. Plus, there are tasting events and cooking classes in one section of the store. This is definitely my one-stop-shopping place for birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions, and always at Christmas.
Plan to spend some time in this lovely gallery. There is so much to look at and purchase! Simply gorgeous!!! And lovely, friendly staff to help you too!
I did an art crawl in Davidson and this store was on the stop. It was a fun place that featured local artists. The interior was warm and inviting and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend stopping by if your in Davidson.
We have loved The Wooden Stone ever since it opened a few years ago. The quality of the pottery, wood, metal, glass, jewelry is outstanding. You always know you will find that special gift when you enter this store ....and probably something for yourself that you can not resist. We always take visitors into this store and it is a staple of things to do and experience in Davidson. We are always disappointed when we find we will be out of town for one of their evening events. Even though the space has been consolidated recently, it has not detracted from their products. I am especially pleased that they have added an Apple sales and service center in the back. I recently needed some application education on my iPad and spent over an hour with one of their sales staff. She was knowledgable and patient with a 60+ lady. I learned a lot. And left with a beautiful piece of pottery for a wedding gift. In the last year one half of the original space has been turned into a casual Mexican Restaurant (Carrburritos) serving among other things great fish tacos! The Wooden Stone should be on everyone's list of must shops to frequent in Davidson.
This is not one of those snobby art galleries! You'll find beautiful craftmanship here -- American handcrafts -- with items ranging from jewelry to pottery and home decor. Items are made from a wide range of media including wood, stone, metal, glass, ceramics and more. No pressured salespeople following you around, so it's a pleasure to take your time and marvel at the displays. I especially appreciate how small artisans are represented/supported here. Some items are on the pricey side, but if you're looking for that special unique gift, you'll probably find it here. They also have monthly "sip and shop" wine tastings.
Wooden Stone has an in-house Apple Sales and Service department. Knowledgeable and friendly staff to update and upgrade and diagnose your Mac.
My step-mother raved about this little shop. It was one of the first places we visited. In one word... Awesome!! The staff was very friendly and they had everything from handmade jewelry to dinnerware. I forced myself to leave the store out of fear of buying too much.
We have been to their sip and shop events twice... enjoyed the snacks, wine tasting and quite shopping time. Bought some of the wine we tasted. The jewelry, fine pottery, and glass are awesome. They gift wrap free. We have also bought an IPAD there at their Computer Tree inside the store... great follow up service. Carrboritos is next door in the same building... other restaurants accross the street.
