I love this place! I remember going as a child and riding the train, frolicking on the playground, and always wishing I could go swimming in the pool. It embodies summertime, and is camp, family, friend, and pet friendly. Most amenities are provided, like bathrooms, concessions, grills, picnic shelters, playgrounds, stages, etc. The whole shebang. It also features many events like swim meets, concerts, earth day events, and festivals. Overall, it's a great place to go!
This park has a lake with a little train that goes around it. There is also miniature golf an a pool in the summer. The playground is AWESOME. They do a really great Easter festival with egg hunt and games.
Our Cub Scouts have been having summer camp here since 2009 and this park has just about everything you could want. Lots of shady picnic tables/areas, a great lake for fishing, boating, etc, a big pool with a water slide, a merry go-round, a fun train, BBQ grills, snack bars and a huge activity area for frisbee, football, games, etc. Bathrooms have been upgraded in the back section. Lots of parking! A grocery store nearby to grab your cook-out items!
This is the best park in our area. Great place for a picnic - or to just stroll or even do a little running. One of the best playgrounds for the kids - and the playground is surrounded by the lake on three sides with a fence keeping the kids from falling in. There is a pool that is open in the summer months. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The park is free - however there is a nominal charge for the rides and pool. Go and enjoy!
We always go here at least once a Summer to let the kids play and have some fun family time. There is a little train that the kids love, a carousel, and putt-putt. There is also plenty of places to have a picnic and just spend the entire day enjoying time with the family.
Beautiful place to spend with a picnic! Enjoy the sun and the peace and quiet! Very quiet and peaceful setting.
If you are looking for a quick respite then stop for by with your picnic basket or jut a breathe of fresh air and a walk.
Took some time from are travelling to stop and take in the park and reflect on how beautiful the scene was. We sat on the picnic table and watched across the lake at golfers playing. It was a perfect autumn days. Love to cruise this park.
The HP City Lake Park is a relaxing place to take your family. There are 10 picnic shelters and lots of open space. Hiking trials abound. The city operates an excursion boat that takes groups for a cruise around the lake. You can also explore on your own by renting a canoe and finding your inner tranquility. Boat and bank fishing are allowed by permit. Families with small children will love the playgrounds, miniature train ride and carousel.
If you like they outdoors give it a shotNumerous picnic tables and or sheltersQuite a few grilling sitesTake a boat out of the lakeThough for swim in the pool during the normal seasonTake a walk around the parkNot bad for small city parkAfter Labor Day weekend a lot of the attractions do close down so you are limited after Labor Day weekendCertain things fees to apply the minigolf merry-go-round rides in the indoor pool area others on the outside the lake walking trails are free
You can fish, swim, or just cook out and enjoy the surroundings. Good place for a warm weather family outing or reunion or church social.
The park offers 10 picnic shelters as well as picnic tables scattered all around. It was started in 1935 and is across the street from the historic Mendenhall Plantation. It offers a large (165 x 230) pool with slides (drained when we were there), a train ride, mini golf, merry-go-round (old but the kids would still love it), playgrounds, horseshoes (behind the historic quaker meeting house), canoe rentals, fishing boat rentals, paddle boats, and an excursion boat. We found a picnic table in the shade and just looked at the lake for the longest time.
Carousel is terribly old and ugly. Playground is busy and it's hard to keep an eye on your kids, so you have to be 5 steps behind them the whole time. Only 2 baby swings and no other swings, which are too far from the playground. The pool? Beautiful but the lifeguards are morons. They wanted me to literally have my hand on my 5-year old the entire time she swam. The head lifeguard threw me out b/c I was 6 feet away in the water and not touching her. I told her I was a Red Cross certified lifeguard and (obviously) my daughter could swim the entire length of the pool. We couldn't use the slides because of my daughter's size. I'd love to go back to the pool, but I'd like to swim and not be humiliated.
Carousel! Fantastic playground! Mini golf! Huge pool with water slides! There is a train that is great for school age and younger children that goes through a little tunnel and it's great fun. It is beside the lake , featuring big picnic areas, historic building, huge trees, boating, playground for little ones too. This is a fantastic park in High Point for children that are toddlers to older preteens . Bring money for carousel mini golf swimming and boating. Check the website or call for hours of operation .
The children enjoyed the pool and had a blast. The waterslides add to all the fun making it far better than most local pools. There are so many things to do!! We made a day trip just for this park which is an hour and a half away from our house. It was a great find.
