Two really nice walks to take starting from the public parking lot in Hillsborough. Both are scenic, easy & even the dogs are well-behaved & enjoying themselves!
Love walking along the river and seeing others enjoying the outdoors. Great addition to Hillsborough.
This new greenway/riverwalk is BEAUTIFUL and well maintained. I cannot say enough times how much I love it! From one end to another is just under 2miles (as of Nov. 2014) It connects so many neat parts of town - Gold Park and nearby Mystery Brewing ;), the Farmers market and historic Hillsborough, and the Weaver Street. I go here almost every weekend.
Parking abounds whether you park downtown in the parking garage or at Gold park. The new river walk provides great scenic walk, with sites of the Eno River, downtown, historic sites where signs have been erected to indicate the history etc, there are picnic tables, benches and so much more. The walk allows you to decide how long of a walk you would like to take. The day I went with my husband, I was thrilled to see how many people were jogging, strolling, walking, etc. Highly recommend!!!
This is a marvelous plus for Hillsborough, North Carolina. It is continually being connected to other areas along the Eno River. One can park, walk along the river, walk back to town and have lunch or dinner at one of the fantastic restaurants.
This is a great little walk. The trail is well done, threading through some lovely territory. It is a great place to take kids and dogs. You can access the trail at several points. The really nice access point is at Weaver Street Coop; stop off and have a coffee and pastry and continue your trek! The trail is good for everyone, including people at a low fitness level - there's nothing strenuous here unless you up the fitness level yourself by walking really fast or running!
Just open August 2014 the two mile segment of the Mountains to the Sea Trail along the Eno River features paved pathway suitable for walking, biking, wheelchairs. Crosses the river on amazing bridges. Connects the Historic District with the West Hillsborough Gold Park and businesses.
