now PInehurst #9 is a great golf course with beautiful scenic views and some amazing houses. the service in the bar is awesome and the food is great. Try to play here on one of my trips to pinehurst each year. one drawback, since they are now part of the Pinehusrt resort non members can only get a tee time 30 days in advance. Not good for long range planning.
Ate lunch here with business associates. The customer service was great, lunches arranged/taste good, and well prices. There are views to the course and the atmosphere was nice. Overall, a great place for business lunches if you're a member.
We played 36 holes with a morning and afternoon tee time. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Gerry was the starter and gave us some great tips on club selection and reading the greens. The course was in great shape as well and the greens were rolling fast and true. We stopped for lunch in the grill and the food was excellent. After the second round two of us left jackets behind. We needed them early in the day but not after the mornign round. We went back before we left the Pinehurst area and they had my friend's jacket but had mine locked in an office because I had expensive sunglasses in the pocket. They're shipping them back to me. That was very nice of them to take such good care of them. I appreciate the service and help. I would definitely recommend the course if you're in the area.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this is arguably the best course in Pinehurst. It is also the most difficult. I have played them all.
Good course. Very demanding. No similar holes. great test of your skills/or lack thereof. There are free range balls and stocked pro shop with knowledgeable and helpful staff.
This course is absolutely beautiful. It harkens back to the old days of golf in the South. Golf History abounds. Make sure you find the Little Putter statue that used to be on the Lawn. He is now in the clubhouse. Give Payne Stewart a fist bump. Everyone we encountered at the clubhouse was very friendly and helpful. If you are a golfer, you should try to play the course, you won't be sorry
Well manicured and in good shape considering the rain they have had lately. Has a very Carolina feel with tall pine trees and sandy waste areas. Pro shop and staff very helpful. I recommend it and will come back.
The historic Pinehurst Golf Club and golf courses. It dates back to 1895, when Mr. Tufts first envisioned a place for Tuberculosis patients to recuperate. Nothing was even on the radar as far as golf was concerned. With visitors engaging in hitting a little white feathery with a long stick, with a wooden mallet on it, golf was born in Pinehurst and the first nine holes was soon built. To be followed soon after by Mr. Donal Ross building the famed #2 course in 1902, which today remains as one of the best tested of golf any where in American or the world for that matter.
The course was awesome...members were friendly and helpful and we had a beautiful day...a must play again!!!
Played this past weekend and the service you receive is top notch from the second you arrive. The course was in really good condition and the greens were a little slow but overall in good shape. While the course has some holes that are difficult, it makes up for it with some easy birdie opportunities as well. Enjoyable course that I can't wait to play again, especially in the Spring or Summer time!!
This is a Nichoas designed course. Greens are difficult. Some forced carries over water. Pretty layout.
We have close to 400 golfers every year around Veteran's Day week that play our Senior Amateur Golf Tour championship in Pinehurst/Southern Pines. We divide our flighted play on to 4 different courses here and National is one of the courses we use. It is also used as our central hub for scoring in addition to using it as our lunch buffet on the first day. The staff here has always been extremely accomodating to us and the buffet has always been very good and the golf course is always in great shape. So if you have a large group and want excellent service, great golf and good food, try National. Highly recommended!
You feel like you've arrived at Augusta when you arrive at the security entrance and drive onto the property. The clubhouse was clearly built at the height of the golf course building boom and is fabulous with a full-service bar and restaurant. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus, but like many of his designs, he is probably one of the few who can play it well. If you like hitting power fades off the tee, you'll love this course. The greens are typical Nicklaus--big and many buried elephants, but aren't in great shape due to fungus, so many of them are bumpy and ragged. Full details at tips golf tips, but the course is challenging with lots of hazards and nearby housing, making OB a frequent player. There's quite a bit of elevation change, but don't spray your tee balls as the layout is very unforgiving. The course has a nice, albeit slightly awkward driving range with a small short game area and practice bunker. Overall, nice facility, but the course wouldn't bring me back.
Well groomed course and play moved well. Interesting layout.
Had the chance to play this course with a few friends of mine. This is a beautiful course. One of my favorites.
