At first impression, this winery lacks in curb appeal but our hostess, Melissa, was fantastic and we had a great time ! She helped us feel as if we were taking part in something special by sampling these particular wines. She was extremely knowledgeable, gracious and attentive-we ended up buying a case! We used a Groupon in which we could choose our full flight and cheese-great deal, including a cute glass to take full of your favorite! We will definitely come back if Melissa is our hostess-can't imagine this winery without her!
I have been to a winery in Sonoma Valley, CA and had a great time there, so I thought I would enjoy this as well. It was not as grand as Sonoma but still a great time. We did a full wine tasting, and purchased 6 bottles at a discount and got our tasting for free. They have great deals and great wines...my favorite was the Sweet Muscatine or their Christmas Wine.
We went on a Saturday afternoon with another couple. We were greeted as we walked in and able to start our tasting immediately. Rachel was very patient and did not rush us as we shared our comments with each other. I've been to other wineries where I felt discouraged from sharing my opinions. Rachel's descriptions of the wines were straightforward and I could relate to them. She also encouraged me to download the Groupon and redeemed it on the spot. After the tasting we spent the afternoon visiting with Mike, the wine maker. He shared great stories and made us feel at home. I almost felt like a member of the family by the time I left. I enjoyed the Cab Franc immensely. I would like to sample the Seyval Blanc next time I'm there.
I stopped here on a solo visit since I was in the area and had a very nice experience. Theirtasting bar is very small but the staff is knowledgeable and the wines are quite good. Othershave complained about a strip mall, this is not a strip mall, the whole thing is the winery andthey have their own vineyard next to it. I'd hate to see the reviews from those folks if they goto some of the smaller wineries that people have set up tasting rooms in their garages. All inall, this is a first rate small winery.
Nice little winery for tasting and learning about wine production. Friendly knowledgable staff; well trained to provide good information to customers for pairings. An enjoyable time,
My daughter treated me to a wine tasting for two as a Mother's Day gift. Have been to several wine tastings over the years, was looking forward to the afternoon. Had never had a bad tasting experience until now. My first balloon was burst when we pulled in and discovered the winery is located in a strip mall. Upon entering the balloons began to inflate, the ambiance is very nice. Very clean, tidy and inviting. I loved the little "quotes" written on the wall. The hostess talking with another couple seemed very knowledgeable and quite pleasant. We on the other hand had the person behind the counter. She may have been knowledgeable but never shared. I received a sweet wine list and my friend a dry wine list. We asked if we could sample one of each others' list and where told "no". We were not asking for extra wine ... I simply wanted one dry wine and my friend wanted to try a sweet. When asked why we couldn't do this, she said " the boss says so and I just work here". Having worked for the last 30 years in a financial customer service field, I was appalled at her lack of civility and small talk. Plus she was checking her I phone. Bottom line, the place is cute, the wine is good but I'll never go back and certainly will not recommend.
We stopped in for a wine tasting on a Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed the tasting and received a wine glass with the purchase of the tasting. There was only one person working, from what we could tell, and she was very busy being Valentine's weekend. There was not really an opportunity to discuss the wines or ask questions. We were however delighted at the wine accessories, jellies and sauces available for purchase.
Upon arriving, we were taken back by the "strip mall" appearance anticipating the typical long dirt road drive past rows of vines arriving eventually at a rustic barnlike structure...but after entering we're quickly received by a very nice young hostess who's hospitality and personal attention drew us in...the tasting of the "dry" list won us over immediately! Loved the white "blend" which was a first for us and the red franc was beautiful...we finished up with an informative discussion in the 2 tank rooms as well as a tour of the grounds with their expansive grape vines in the back---too bad the tastings/tour werent nestled all the way behind there!!!! Kidding of course, but our group of 4 were pleasantly pleased with the wines and the whole experience enough to take a case of wine home with us!
Two of my best friends took me as part of my birthday celebration. We spent the afternoon and were treated to a Wine Tasting, which gave us a great opportunity to taste the various wines available. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and shared a great deal of knowledge of the process. I am not a huge wine drinker, but found two that I will add to my favorites (they were very good). After our tasting, we enjoyed the afternoon on the pavilion, which gave us a great view of the harvest on the vines. As someone indicated, it is not an upscale winery, but it is convenient (we live in the next county), intimate, and we had great, personable service.I have already said that the next time my mom (who is a big wine fan) is in town, I will have to take her up there. There is a great gift shop, where they will even custom paint a wine glass for you. For those persons out of town, it is a short drive from Charlotte and Greensboro, directly on Highway 52 right off Interstate 85.
I have toured several winery's in NC and this is one of the best. It's not as big and fancy as some but I like the cozy atmosphere. The advantage is you get more one on one time with the employees and really get to see how the wine gets from vine to glass. The "Carlos" is one of my favorites, they have a great assortment of dry and sweet wines and they sell cute little gifts as well. You can go in and browse for free, but there is a fee to take the tour. I recently saw a coupon on "Groupon."
This winery doesn't look like much in a little storefront. But what you find inside makes up for it. Their specialty is muscadine wine. As they will tell you, "You either love it or hate it." The wine is very good, though not best I've ever had. The woman who helped us was the epitome of southern charm and hospitality. She didn't just give us the wine and walk away (like at another winery we visited). She wanted to know what we thought, gave us pairing suggestions, etc. There was one bottle I bought (blackberry wine) that I wouldn't have bought on my own. When she suggested that it when well with ice cream, it clicked (made sense and sounded great) and I bought a bottle. Also, they have a very nice mix of sweet and dry wines.
I went with 2 friends to this place for a day of wine tasting. The winery is located in an old shopping center which was a little weird, but they had a lot of great wine gifts inside and the tasting was great! I bought 4 bottles of wine! We had a great time and we would definitely go back!
