Located a half hour from Chapel Hill and overlooking the Haw River. The restaurant is in a former textile mill and has retained a lot of the features from the mill - beam ceilings, plank floors, copper top bar. I got a burger and fries which were very good. 10 North Carolina microbrew beers on tap plus beers from outside the state. Most of the food ingredients are sourced locally. Outside seating area overlooks the river and would be a great place to drink a beer and watch the sunset.
Visited here with wife and young daughter last week for a pre Christmas snack! Had the pimento cheese poppers appetizer with ghost pepper aioli = hot! Good though. Beers are good (be sure to visit the Farmhouse Ales downstairs from the eddy). The atmosphere here is good, and it's a great place for a beer outside when the weather is nice! I will definitely return!
So what everyone mentions is the view over—cutting through the middle of North Carolina— Haw River at civil sunset and the stars in the clear sky after twilight, and the homey Scotch-Irish pub vibe (a real pub!)… sometimes there is enchanting music coming from the corner or front of tables and sofas in this living room styled pub…and that's just part of the whole. The setting is like no place I can think of anywhere…What's the perfected-plus in this living room setting is that the food you'll eat is not just a little bit good, it's remarkably delicious, a mix of lovingly prepared comfort foods (all super neighborhood-to Saxapahaw-local burgers, pork chops, steaks, cracky-meatloaf, pretzels, cheese plates, fries, pies, breads) *and* intense, inspired local food lab inspirations, meaning totally original fare (crazy Noma type things like foraged greens, pickled seeds, blood sausage, head-to-tail foods, spent beer hops pastas.. some times). LOVE this place. I go there and the General Store next door often. The Eddy Pub is worth putting into the GPS when heading anywhere in North Carolina.
Old mill turned restaurant and pub. Good selection of beers. Eclectic organic locally sourced food. Several interesting vegan and vegetaran options, but we wanted meat and menu is limited there. Quite pricey for a pretzel, burgers and beers.
The location is great, on the Haw River in an old mill. The terrace on a summer evening is really nice. But the food is erratic and quite pricey, and the service can be very slow.
A great meal in a great location. Good taps, nice wine and food sourced from local farms. Good to come early if you're seeing a show at the Haw River Ballroom.
Admittedly...I'm probably just too old for this kind of pub. Good wine and beer list, no hard stuff (I was hoping for scotch) and a very loud trio of Irish type folk singers who were strumming their buns off and hollerin' to match. No big deal...just not my kind of place.
The location in this small town in Saxapahaw on the river. The restaurant is in an old mill with a nice atmosphere. There is only beer(many local N.C. choices) and wine but plenty to choice from The food is good but the portions are just a little too small and priced just a little to high for what you receive. The pub should consider increasing the portion size and/or lowering the price slightly. I understand they are trying to use local ingredients which is good but $12 for a burger or $14 for a risotto with beets, a little goat cheese and slivered almonds, the portion was just too small for an entree. This is the type of place you hope does well so hopefully they will consider some slight changes to improve the overall experience.
