Great place for sunrise. For a nice walk. Pier is pretty much dilapidated due to hurricanes. I was there in the winter so didn't see anyone.
There really wasn't much not to like about Frisco beach! Its got the OBX feel just like all the other beaches down here. And you can drive on it, with a permit of course!Have Fun!Hal G.
Ramp 49 is a great place to take your 4wheel drive vehicle. The beach is gently sloping, and a fun place for playing in the waves. Best beach to go with children to enjoy the ocean. If no 4wheel drive, park at Frisco Pier (no longer usable for fishing).
what a great section of beach! Very clean, never seen it crowded! There are great dunes to tuck up under when it's a little windy. Will go there again, again and again.
This part of the OBX is normally calmer so that you can swim in the surf. this past weekend the tide was very rough due to full moons and storms. I loved sitting on the beach relaxing while my husband tried his hand at fishing.
We had read articles that the pier was scheduled to be torn down last year. So we were slightly unsure if it would still be standing. Sure enough it was there and we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise with the early morning fishermen. Free parking too!
I enjoyed that place because there was other surfers and I felt safer than to go by myself somewhere around. It is however a crowded beach.
We were told by the park ranger last year that the waves at Frisco beach were more gentle because of the curve in the Outer Banks. This year we rented a house in Frisco and found the waves to be much better for children than at Avon. The beach does not have the erosion found in Avon. The beaches are wide and with a very small slope. Highly recommend this for families with small children. The handicapped ramp maintained by the park is also located near the remains of the Frisco pier.
Don't tell anyone. This is the best beach on the east coast. Not crowded, with soft sand and great access.
Have been coming to HI for 23 years and fished from the pier while it was operational. Hurricanes of 2003 and 2010 have left it a wreck HOWEVER the pier itself provided not only shade for those who set up underneath it, but is instrumental in helping surfing conditions. Rumor has it that the NPS had bought it and will take it down. How sad but in character as their absurd restrictions on ORVs have resulted in tourism dropping and businesses forced to close. Just leave us the pier!!! Please!!!
let all of your worries wash away with a delightful, calm and relaxing walk along Frisco beach. So breath taking. Make a trip down to the beach at night and cook some fresh " catch". Ride your bike to Cape Hatteras lighthouse, and go ahead, see the inside, and go up the stairs..capture a great panoramic view of the shoals...ahhh....
Recently had a beach day in Frisco and this was an excellent beach! The beach and water was clean and not too crowded. We parked in a parking lot area that had bathrooms, outdoor showers, and a clean water fountain for humans & dogs!
Amazing view, easy 4WD vehicle access, not polluted, pet friendly, not too crowded after 2pm, amazing sunsets
Compared to Nags Head where we stayed last year (which was also beautiful and not heavily trafficked), this beach is one of the finest I've experienced. Gorgeous sand, shelling and surf. You can't beat it! Frisco very laid back and not tourist-laden like the northern OBX. We will be back!
Soft sand, nicely kept beach. Far from the crowds, which is what we wanted. Ocean water was so clear I could see to the bottom for the first ten feet out. Watch your step, however, as the ocean floor is very uneven. A lovely place to stay with stores and amenities nearby.
