I wasn't too sure what I was going to see going in there. A lot of times when people say 'antique mall' it's a bunch of junk that people are trying to sell. This antique mall had absolutely gorgeous furniture from over a century ago and was just really neat to look at. They also have a small restaurant that had great food!
One of the largest collection of antiques under one roof. Each booth is organized and well displayed. No having to dig through piles or stacks. There is also a cute cafe onsite if you get hungry. The chili and vegetable soup are great. All homemade.
So much to see and we found some great bargains. I will come back here again! The staff was great, there is a wide variety of stuff to search through. This place has all kinds of antiques. There are cases full of collectibles AND plenty of booths full of junk to dig through. (my personal preference)Way big fun! Go!
It was fun walking around the various shops within the mall . . . I was lucky enough to find a couple of treasures for my man cave. Ate in the diner in the mall . . . very nice people run but not the best cooks . . . .
I'm not into antiques per se but this was a neat place that also had a great little cafe where we had the best bacon cheese burgers! A lot of flea market type things here, too, and that's ok, we like it better that way. Wide variety of things!
This place is worth the stop! Just down the road from the Warm Glow candle shop, the building is very spacious inside and clean with a lot of variety and inventory. It's not just flea market quality as is often seen in some places, this is an actual antique mall with many antiques. It is very apparent that there have been many improvements under the new management, which adds to the welcome feeling. I look forward to returning here again soon.
We bought a fake 1865 newspaper in a period frame that wasn't listed as a reproduction yesterday, 4-5-14. We got home and looked online and discovered that it was the most reproduced newspaper ever. We called the next day to get our money back since it was marketed as an original. The dealer (who knew it was fake to begin with) and the manager REFUSED to refund the money based on the fact that all sales are final. It doesn't matter about screwing excellent customers that have been buying from Webb's and then Centerville Antique Mall for many years. We will never set foot in your establishment again and we do frequent the other antique shops in the area on a regular basis. We will inform anyone who will listen about the shoddy treatment we received from this mall and how they sell fakes that are marketed as real. It's a pretty sad state of affairs when an antique mall will put a dollar amount over good customers. Money and greed are more important than we were. Obviously Centerville Antique Mall is not a reputable place to buy antiques. They do not stand behind what they sell. A reputable dealer would have refunded the $145. Russell and Kathy Guy Ft. This mall is now called Centerville antique mall. Taken over from Webbs, who let it run down. The interior is spacious, well-lit, clean, and remodeled. The inventory has been improved greatly, and they actually sell antiques now. Not garage sale/flea market junk. A welcome improvement over Webbs. The staff were courteous and friendly, and prompt. If you haven't been there in awhile, you will be impressed.
I have been a dedicated fan of Webb's Antique Mall since my parents have taken me there during my childhood. It seemed like every month we were at Webb's, and because of my past I have been committed to go at least once or twice a year. I would say though in the last five to six years the mall has been declining. The building has been needing repairs. The roof was leaking in certain spots and the vendors don't seem to "restock/maintain" their booths. Me and my significant other were traveling back from Indianapolis and decided to check it out. When we arrived I was shocked to see that it was no longer Webb's but is now called Centerville Antique Mall. I was a bit nervous at first but when I saw the outside of the building got a fresh coat of paint on the exterior of the building, my nervousness started to subdue. When we walked in we were greeted with a nice new entry, flooring, check out counter, and interior paint. The glass show case area was partially under "construction" and so most of the cases were empty and being replaced. While walking to the back I saw that they were renovating one of the rooms. I also noticed that they had some new heaters in the building which will be nice during the winter because it does get cold in there. The down side with having the new owners, there were a lot of vacant booths, but I have a feeling it will be only a temporary thing. Having been going to Webb's all my life I am pretty familiar with the booths, and the booths that were vacant were the ones that were the least kept up. I have high hopes for the new owners and I hope they continue improving the mall, and I look forward to see if the improvements have helped in the coming months.
This so-called 'antique mall' along Indiana's Antique Alley (US Hwy 40/National Road East) appears to be in decline and contains mostly 'fea market/garage sale' offerings. After a quick browse, my partner and I decided we were wasting our time here and continued our tour of the much-hyped (and very over-rated) antique trail. To be fair, there are a few decent booths at Webb's, but most are poorly maintained and lacking true antiques or collectables. I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone make a special trip, especially if having to travel far. This place was certainly poor in comparison to the Heart of Ohio Antique Mall in Springfield that we visited the day before.
Even if you aren't the 'have to look at every thing in every booth' type of antiquer, you will need plenty of time to adequately just browse. But, that isn't always a good thing. The problem, if you are an antiquer, is that there is too much 'flea market' offerings among the other, often very good, fare. Quantity does not always equal quality. I've found a few great things here...and at good prices. I'm in that area fairly often and will stop once in a while. I would not, likely, make a special trip to shop here though. There are just too many other options in the area or on my trip to and from Richmond. If you are in the area, stop and take your chances on finding that perfect item...and even if you don't it can be a pretty enjoyable browsing experience as long as you know what to expect.
My husband and I have been to this Webb's 4 times. We stopped there on Saturday, after 2 years had passed. First of all, I looked up the website to see what time the store opened. It said "9-5". We drove over 100 miles to get there by 9...and the sign on the door said it opened at 10! This was really annoying. So, we had to kill an hour ...nothing else was open, either, and we just drove around wasting gas. Finally, it was open. The cases in the front were fairly well stocked, but there were alot of sections that were empty or sparsely stocked. There were some interesting items...Barbies, dolls, and alot of smalls. We moved on to the open booths, and found alot of garage sale type items. Not that this is all bad, because we are interested in alot of different things. However, I found it to be kind of depressing and dismal in the back half of the store. There is a "restaurant" in the center, which is kind of odd. It's never been open when we were there. As someone stated in an earlier post, there doesn't look to be much turnover. I, too, recognized items that were there 2 years ago. Alot of the booths are poorly maintained, and there were many "this booth available" signs tacked up. I feel bad for the place...it looks like it's on the decline. Not sure I'd go there again. We also visited the one in Lake City, FL, last fall. Same story...different state.
This is definitely an indoor flea market. I have been antiquing for over 30 years and have seen many good antique malls, this is not one of those. However, if you are looking for items that you can also find at garage sales, this should be your destination.
Very, very large antique store. Of course, you may not consider everything you see to be "antique," but this is typically the norm for a large scale antique mall such as this. My wife and I have only been visiting this type of stores for a couple of years, but compared with some other antique malls we've shopped in (Wapak, Oh; Van wert, OH; Waynesville, OH; Portland, IN), this antique mall, and other antique shops in the Centerville/Cambridge City area, have much more reasonable prices. Take a piece of paper and pen along to jot down booth numbers with items you like, because trying to track down items later on can be quite a chore, as this store is very expansive. Another nice thing is that you are not pestered by employees following you around and spying on you because they're worried about theft. We had coffee and strawberry pie in the restaurant, which was delicious.
I was torn between one and two stars but the place is fairly clean and well-lit so two stars seemed fair based on that. However, with that said, this is not a destination if you're shopping for antiques. Despite its huge size Webb's lacks substance. I would think a better name for this mall would be 'flea market and collectibles' rather than antiques because the VAST majority of the items offered here are not antiques. If you're into soda bottles, glassware, dinnerware... you'll hit the motherlode. Chances are you'll find some dishes and glasses and a few bottles. If you're looking for antique books, antique furniture, ANTIQUE collectibles you're better off visiting some of the other antique stores that pepper Rt 40. My last visit to Webb's was in 2010 and I could swear that some of the stuff I saw then was still sitting on the shelves when we visited this past Saturday. That tells me there isn't a whole lot of turnover. And the slow check out process is abysmal, though if you're not selling a whole lot then I guess the proprietors find it adequate. The bathrooms could do with a bit more attention and I'm not sure I'd eat at the restaurant... if it's even still open.A better bet for antiquing would be Vinton House and Building 125 in Cambridge City which is a few miles west on Rt 40 (a very nice shot of the interior of Building 125 can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/waynet/4158652324/). Wheeler's in Centerville isn't too bad though it's very close quarters and stuff is stacked on more stuff so browsing is a bit tricky. I also visited The Glass Cupboard in Knightstown and found several 'treasures', there, so it would be a place I'd recommend. I'd consider The Glass Cupboard, which also calls itself an antique mall, several steps up from Webb's. Happy antiquing!
