Columbus is a nice, quiet place. We like it very much because of all the community activities, the architecture and the scenic setting of this place

I love riding my bike on trails because it gets me off the roads -- that's a safer way to go, and is much more scenic.. Parts of this trail are quite nice and up to the standards of other city's trails -- notably the section on the eastern side of the city and the section between I-65 and the city. The section on the western and north-western is not up to standards of most other trails I have seen in the country. The main issues with the western and north-western sections are 1) a good portion of it is on sidewalks, 2.) it is poorly sign posted despite many turns to follow the route, 3.) many sections are narrow and do not accommodate comfortable passing without someone getting off onto the dirt. The city would really help themselves with a consistent set of signposts at every turn or street crossing where it is not clear where it picks up on the other side. The most egregious signage deficiency is when you are travelling east from I-65 and need to take a sharp left turn into the park area at the east end of the big bridge -- no sign, and the trail into the park is narrower than expectation thus rendering it non-obvious.The eastern section is wonderful -- nice trail, scenic, easy to follow. An added plus is that there is a nice restaurant at the airport terminal building on the north side which can be a good break when riding around the city.

With more trails being added yearly to these already fantastic trails. You never run out of different locations to walk, run or bike. You'll see beautiful scenery and your own relaxing pace.

Great bike trail thru the city and countryside of Columbus. We rode 20 mikes and only spent about 1 mile of that on the city streets. The trail is its own dedicated bike trail and is very nice. See the architectural marvels of Columbus from your bike and you won't be disappointed.

On our way to Tenessee my wife and I stopped in Columbus to test out the People Trail network we learned about on a trip last summer. A combination of forested paths through park areas and riding through mostly quiet neighborhoods made for an enjoyable 1 1/2 hour break in our trip. We did not ride the entire trail, but custom made a loop for the time we had. Most of the trails are clearly marked, although the official trail section near the intersection of Rt 46 and 3rd Ave is not only confusing, but also on a sidewalk along a very busy street. We rode up to 5th street and took that back to the Visitor's Center where we began. The staff at the visitor's center was very helpful. Definately either print out a map from the internet or make sure you pick up one from the visitor's center. Unless your a local and very familiar with the routes, the markings are not as thorough as they need to be. It's advertised as a little over 11 miles but that does not seem accurate to us. In addition to a large city loop, a western trail leads out of the city past a commercial district. The web site does a good job of describing the trail.http://www.indianatrails.org/Columbus.htm
