Ernie Pyle was a famous WWII correspondent who was killed in 1945 on Okinawa by a sniper. There is a small museum in small Dana, IN but we have always stopped at the little rest area on two lane US 36 over the years.It has green grass, a replica memorial, parking and a covered bridge now placed there for safekeeping. A good place to stretch, walk the dog and consider the horror of WWII and the efforts of the Greatest Generation to keep us all safe and free.US 36 is a nice two lane drive through real America. Small towns and farms. And this is a nice stop on that road.
