Never even knew this place existed until the other day. We went down with my husband , my daughter and our grandson. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful. You can tell they do this for the animals, not to make a huge amount of money. Price is a little steep but I know it goes right back into the farm. It's in a really great area , lots of places to walk. It's sad a lot of the cages and pens were empty. They have downsized quite a bit. Although I hated to see the tigers in cages, they were a decent size , they were clean and well cared for. The 3 potbelly pigs were adorable. My grandson loved the monkeys. We also got to pet the baby tiger cub. Couldn't hold her tho, was too old now. Saw a couple of wolves which was really cool. Like I said, everything was clean and animals looked well cared for. The little girl who gave us a tour was so cute. It was a nice day.
We live near this and go often. When they get baby animals you can pay to meet the baby animals and hold them sometimes to! Take buns you can feed the goats, they will give you food for llamas & deer.
Stapps Ranch is a great hidden gem. Lions and tigers and bears - oh my! The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The tractor and wagon ride was a treat you don't have an opportunity to take these days. Animals were well taken care of and it's a much more personal experience than a zoo. Nikki, Aaron and Brice were great hosts and I would recommend this for young and old. In addition to the above listed animals there were bison, water buffalo, doll sheep, camel, llamas, elk, goats, pot belly pig, monkey, various exotic birds and I'm sure more I've failed to list. Its on my list to return to-so if you enjoy an up close animal experience this is for you. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who make this possible. Carpe diem!
This was a frightening experience for me. Some of the animals are behind cheap chicken wire like fencing and begin to running toward guests. It is only a matter of time before somebody gets hurt. The bears are caged up with no room roam. These animals belong at a zoo or somewhere they can be properly taken care of. It was not fun for me, it was sad.
How often have you heard someone say, "I got to hold and bottle feed a baby tiger, lion, bear, etc"? It's a rare occasion for sure. But what a once in a lifetime feeling it is to see these beautiful animals in person and do just that! My three daughters and I love this amazing place! The animals are so loved by everyone that comes to the Ranch and all who care for them. The review on here about someone "changing their mind" about feeding the baby bears, was obviously misunderstanding of whatever the reason was behind that decision at that time. There was most likely another care giver waiting for that group to leave and give the babies some quiet time to eat. I have been to Stapp's several times. It's always a pleasure and truly a wonderful place for kids and adults alike to enjoy these beautiful animals. This is a Not for Profit organization that cares for their animals and is kind enough to have opened its doors to the public for all to see, love and experience.
Get there early and you'll be able to hold the baby bear cubs and play with the lion cub! SO much fun. You can also take a walking tour of the rest of the farm...just ask! Many of exotic animals to be seen. Not a huge place - like a regular zoo - more like a family farm. Well worth the drive and time to see these beautiful animals.
i think everyone should visit!! you will get an experiance of a life time.. could pet baby cubs that you would never be able to encounter anywhere else... you get to be up close to tiger bears and lions they have alot of other animals too i recommend this to everyone great family experiance and the volenteers there are very helpful and knollegable about the animals!!!
As you can see a bad review "bad experience" is posted and it discouraged me to not want to go, but the grand baby was here so I could not be a party pooper. What I would have missed. There is a great variety of exotic animals that are really well cared for.We got to meet (and pet) the new lion cub who had just arrived the day before. Josie and Sarah gave us a personal tour. These young ladies have such a passion for the animals, extremely knowledgeable and well educated. Not at all what I expected. It is a more intimate experience than a city zoo and much more than a petting zoo and right here in our" back yard".
We were told one price online and paid another once there! Several "advertised" animals had died. We were very disappointed with the entire visit. Tiger limping but staff seemed unconcerned that they were waiting a week to have a vet check it. Staff looked for items to feed baby bears that she said was hungry but then decided to not feed them..just not a place I want to give my money to
This place is great! The girl working at the desk gave a great walking tour - it's amazing how much she knows about the animals. The capuchin monkey even catches popcorn - it was fun to interact with all of the animals. The baby tiger was by far the most fun though - I mean - how often do you get to pet one?! Never!
