the hagerstown museum & arts place

Nice selection of local artwork. Admission is free but a donation is requested. I think the staff are all volunteers and they are very nice and friendly. Well worth a couple of hours if you are in Hagerstown.

We travelled over an hour to the Museum to see the "Valley of the Shadow" exhibition on the Civil War. I had checked the website the morning of the trip to ascertain that the exhibition was ongoing--it was. Imagine our surprise and dismay when, upon our arrival, we were told that due to an accident, the exhibit was closed. I suggested that some sort of posting on the website would be appropriate so that others might not be inconvenienced and the gentleman manning the desk told me that he would not make the suggestion because nobody would listen to him. How obnoxious. It is a nice, small museum, but it is not worth a drive from Baltimore.
