116th and Gray road-- Easy Trails, a creek, a few benches and a flowing Artesian well- Parking and easy access. It is a nice spot to decompress-take a short hike and fill your water jugs. Kid and toddler friendly
The flowing well park used to just be a place to stop and fill up your water jugs from the Artesian well. Today, there are a few trails you can take to walk through the woods. There is a bridge over the creek, some trails on either side, and a shelter near the well. There is no cost to fill your water jugs. The water is tested on a regular basis.
We've stopped by to refill our water bottles a couple times now, as well as take a cool walk with the dog in the forest. Not a huge park, but fully wooded with rustic trails on both sides of the stream. Our only visits have been summer and fall, so I'm not sure how the trails are other times of the year.
For drinking water we have gone to Flowing Well for years. Etiquette is to share out the spigots (currently 4), regardless of who arrived first. Water quality is checked regularly, results are posted on the Carmel Clay Parks website. Like the water; love the price. Many, many people use this well.
This is just a cute place to get natural spring water from a well but this brings back times from my childhood when we traveled out in the country to get water from a spring on a farm that the farmer left open for people to use. We had a blast in the summer going out there and getting cold, cold water. Thanks for the memories and for having such a wonderful place for families to go.
The Flowing Well Park is a nice place to stop for a short relaxing walk or drink ice cold water from the Artesian Flowing Well. Thirty years ago (or more) the well was nothing more than a short dirt path off of 116th Street to a pipe sticking up out of the ground. There were no signs, but most people in the Carmel area knew about the well. Today, it has been turned into a nice paved walk through a small woods, bridge over a creek and the well has a nicely built white shelter with numerous pipes under the shelter. It flows nonstop 24 hours a day. Often people bring 10+ jugs to fill with the icy water. It is cold and tastes delicious!! Perfect to stop if you want a break or a drink. My children always want to stop for a drink at the well. It is now part of the Carmel Parks and is kept clean and nice. The water is routinely tested and you can go online (there is a link) to see if the water is currently safe, which is always is. There are plenty of places to park and benches just to sit and relax. This is a well known "landmark" it seems everyone in the area knows about the Flowing Well!!! The Rotary Club and other fundraiser have raised the money to make this well what it is today.
