We've been camping at Midwest for the last 8 years. It's our favorite place to spend a long week end or even a full week of camping. Midwest is easy to get to, it's easy to park our trailer on all the sites and our horses are in secure stalls directly behind our trailer. Midwest has a tack/camp store so that we can purchase any items we've forgotten and lots of unique items that are hard to resist. There's a restaurant on site in case we don't feel like cooking and firewood is available for purchase. The trails are beautiful with enough varied terrain to make any trail rider happy! We would recommend Midwest for a fun filled, no stress vacation.
Midwest Trails is a wonderful camping destination. Electric and water at each site. Mature trees provide shade at many sites. Covered and gated horse stalls are immediately behind your site and are well lit at night. Sawdust bedding and wheelbarrows provided, bring your own muck fork and shovel. Sites do not have picnic tables. Bring your own firewood or purchase wood on site.Shower houses are clean with water temps fluctuating from warm to hot. Can be a little chilly in early spring.Trails are great! Midwest has its own trails that do not require a federal bridal tag. Ride along ridge lines and descend into valleys. Plenty of wildlife and flora to see along the way. Hoosier National Forest can be accessed from Midwest. Bridle tags must be purchased for use of HNF trails and can be bought at the camp store. Experience ratings range from beginner to challenging. Plenty of trails to ride! The onsite restaurant offers breakfast during weekend open camping and buffet breakfasts and dinners during organized rides. Food is taste and staff are very gracious and nice. The camp store is awesome! Bring some spending money cause you will regret it if you don't! Midwest Trails is the type of camp you will want to visit often!
Great place to camp and ride. Owners are very nice and availalable if ever you had a concern. Food is camp food--really pretty good but not a 5 star restaurant. But you aren't paying 5 star prices either. Great to have a place to stall your horses, get a hot shower, and take a nice ride--as long as you would want, I might add. Also a nice tack store in case you forgot something, and IF you want to stay a week and still want to do something else, there is Lake Monroe nearby with boat rentals, and Bloomington is under 30 minutes away.
The owners are very accommodating and nice. Food is good but wish there was some healthier choices at times. The shower house and bathroom is similar to a campground but it is clean. Showers always had hot water. Dont forget your flip flops and bring an extra towel or mat to stand on while you get dressed after your shower. They have a bluegrass music church service that is awesome. The trails are amazing and can accommodate any skill level of rider. You will not run out of trails. They stress safety and the other guests are usually return guests so they arr helpfulbin finding your way. The campsites and stalls are nice as well. All in all we love coming here
