I Have Been Out Several Times And Always Have A Great Time. I Drive Two Hours To Get There And It Is Totally Worth It. I Love That It Is A Casual Place Where It Is Obvious Everyone Loves The Horses. There Is No Better Bang For Your Buck Than This Place!

Salt Creek Ranch is just outside Metamora Indiana. The guide said they have 135 horses at present. I've been twice so far and will definitely go back. They offer very good rates - currently it's $30 for a two hour ride. The guide was very nice and friendly, and you definitely leave feeling you've got your money's worth. If you're a Novice rider I'd be up front about it so you don't get in over your head with a more advanced group...you will be crossing streams, riding through fields, and going up and down some steep hills. They have some really great events during the year. Last weekend they had an easter egg hunt on horseback - an adults version AND a kids version. It was a blast! The horses were in decent condition, there were some that were thinner than I'd like, but we are coming out of a very hard winter which could explain some of that. All their hooves appeared to be properly maintained. Tack and equipment was spotty. Some of the saddles were decent and some hadn't been well maintained and needed work or retiring. Nothing broke on my horse, but one of the others' saddle fender broke during the ride. Can't say it enough that if you're a novice and not fully confident steering, stopping, trotting, cantering, and galloping you should bring it up when you check in so you are put with the appropriate group.
