Okay, so maybe the wines aren't what most people drink, but they are interesting in Indiana. They have a limited selection and don't charge for the tastings--try them all. We usually buy a couple of bottles of wine and at least one of the cider, and we always take time to have a glass of wine, bread and cheese as a snack. The owner can be a bit of a curmudgeon, but he knows wine. Ask him anything from the common to the obscure and he'll clue you in. The inside feels a bit like a cave--again, maybe not what most people expect for a wine tasting spot. Our experiences have been positive--once we wandered in late in the day when there was a potluck event of some kind and the staff and patrons scooped us up into the food and fun. That's Indiana hospitality.

The atmosphere is old, cold, and dark. Thomas winery is not my favorite. The wines are ok. The cheese selection is fair.

We entered this cozy tasting room and enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace on a chilly day. The tasting was free. Wines good however limited selection and tended to be more to the dry side. We enjoyed our brief time here and were disappointed we could not make to the live music later in the evening. Note while the winery remains open some evenings- tasting ends at 5 pm.

Visited on a crowded Saturday afternoon, but were not rush through the wine tasting. Indoor area is quaint and has an old fashioned, historic ambiance. Outdoor deck area features live music and good atmosphere ( we lucked out and had a gorgeous fall day). Try their cheese plates and a bottle of their blush wine...you won't be sorry!

My wife and I stopped here on the wine tour. The staff was very friendly and helpful but the one is mediocre at best. They have alot of different wines but all of them are very dull.

On a recent girls trip, we stopped in while doing the Indiana Wine Trail. This was stop number #4 on the trail for us. This winery has a casual pub feel with unique wines. Steve was behind the bar for the tastings when we arrived. He was informative and educational as we tasted 6 different varieties. You start with the Gale's Hard Cider - a true cider more like a beer - which may not be to everyone's liking. The other wines were unique. This is not a winery for those looking for sweet wines. Tastings are free but they have a jar for donations, if you'd like. We wish we could have stayed to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. The bread, salami & cheese looked great. Bought 2 bottles to take home. Looking forward to returning to Madison and stopping into the Thomas Family Winery.

My wife and I visited on a Sunday afternoon and sampled the wines (no charge) and then each had a glass of wine plus a shared plate of 3 cheeses (all for under $20). The wines are decent, not great. But Elizabeth was very helpful & friendly and there is plenty of seating inside and out. I will visit again if in Madison.

Labor Day weekend and it was a waste of time to visit this horrible place. The man behind the counter was actually offended we didn't like his wine. He told us we weren't real wine drinkers. I went there because one of the wineries we usually visit suggested we try again. There are far better wineries with lots better service than this place. Not going back even if third times the charm.

We had some extra time and found Thomas Family Winery in the center of Madison for a tasting. There was a varied selection of wines to taste that satisfied everyone's palate. It was a good stop and filled in the time we had in a relaxing manner.

I stopped in Friday afternoon on my way into town for the weekend. Being the only one in the place, I got personal attention. The selection is small, but very good. They have some unique wines. I especially liked the Gale Ale, a cross between beer and wine. The atmosphere is also very charming, situated in a lovely barn/carriage house.

we always stop here when visiting Madison. Locally made wines and hard ciders w/ a nice selection of cheese and sausages.

This is a mini vacation spot. The atmosphere is unique. Recommend this place to any visitor. The Thomas' are great people.

Was in Madison and decided to check out the wineries. Choose here due to reading also had a selection of breads, meats and cheeses. Only saw a few loafs of bread, staff seems more interested in selling the wine than the cheese or other products.

The staff was friendly, but there weren't many wines to try and the ones they had weren't available to purchase but only one or two. We didn't really like the wines they had. There's another winery in town that I would recommend, this one I would skip unless you are just curious.

Great music on weekends, great atmosphere for parties, family gatherings or just relaxing and meeting new friends.
