They had samples of all the cheeses they sell, which is quite a few. The prices were very reasonable.
This little cheese shop is mind-boggling. So many choices of flavored cheeses make your selections difficult. However, cheeses are not the only tempting goodies. I noticed various fruit pie fillings, popcorn, jellies and jams, peanut butters and spreads, and a variety of fruit turnovers. This unique little shop separated us from our cash very quickly, but we have enjoyed every bite
You can watch them making some of the cheese that is sold in the store... lots of samples and wonderful cheese! Bought a new one this time... smoked horseradish! !! Wow, it is good!
If you love cheese then this is the place for you! Immaculately clean establishment that offers samples of all of its cheese varieties. We loved the different varieties of Swiss cheese but you have to come here and decide what kind of cheese you like! You can pick up many other Amish food items eg noodles, candy, butter etc. Come and enjoy!
On my trip to Shipshewana, I was happy to stumble upon the Guggisberg Deutsch Kase Haus. Although it is a bit crowded in there (perhaps because the day I visited was also a Flea Market day), it is worth the stop. They sample every single variety of cheese (and they have MANY). I ended up buying some Swisson Rye, Smoked Swiss, and Bruschetta Cheese. ALL were delightful and a hit with my family. Be sure to check out the daily deal...a great bargain on flavors that (I think) change regularly. If you're lucky, you'll catch them actually making the cheese through the large window in the store (though I wasn't able to witness this). Don't forget to pick up your Cheese Hat on the way out!
This is a nice stop. If you are there at the right time you can watch them make cheese. I live in the area and often stop to sample the cheeses and the cheesr is great. Love the horseradish cheese. I don't know that i would go out of my way to stop unless you are syaying in the area.
I live here and my family and I still go here to sample the cheese, watch the cheeses being made, and take some home. My fav is the horseradish chesse, my girls like the yogurt cheese. The Swiss is the best around. I always pick some up to take to friends when I visit. Other pickeled items and old fashion candys and soda are also avaialble.
This is a cheese store where you can watch them making cheese on some days. The store is very small but it not only has cheese (and usually cheese samples) but many other items, such as jams, jellies, candy, a large selection of dried fruits and veggies, and some cooking tools. The prices and selection are fair. We love the cheese curds but alas so does everyone else and they often run out.
Neat place - great cheese with lots of variety. A fun place to shop. Has some food related items, too (hot pads, cooking tools, candy, jellies, etc.). Some cheeses are made on premises and some not. Prices were good to average, but not overpriced. So glad we stopped.
This place is amazing with the huge variety of cheeses it offers (being made on site and you can watch them make it). Even better they offer plenty samplings. In fact you can really try each cheese in order to make your selection. We are glad we stopped here! Great shop!
This is an Amish grocery store. Good selection of home made jams and spreads. Owners were pleasant and very helpful.
We have spent a weekend in Shipshewana three time in the last two years and had never made the 10 minutes trip out County Road 16 to this chesse factory. I am so sorry it took so long for us to discover it.
This cheese factory store has many varieties of cheese, all available to taste before purchase. Apparently they have won awards for their colby, which is very good. The aged cheddar was the real star of the show, and the various swiss varieties were excellent as well. There were some choices with horseradish and these were so good I wanted them all. Cheddar with bacon was a nice treat also. The best part of all was that for these excellent cheeses, the prices were incredibly low. We bought about 12 pounds of cheese, different varieties, for around $36. If you are a cheese lover, don't miss this out of the way spot.
Excellent quality cheese at a great price. Plenty of samples. The baby swiss is the specialty here, and is excellent. Everytime I am in the area, I stop and stock up.
We were able to try it seemed about 15 different cheeses and other snacks. The employees were all so friendly and helpful, even though the shop was crowded--the smiles never left their faces.
