cole porter birthplace & museum

I love Cole Porter and was thrilled to stand in the room where he was born and to see the actual piano he played in the family living room. Call ahead to schedule a tour; they are accommodating and reliable. Unfortunately, the house is split in half for a B & B, which would not meet my standards (4-star) for an overnight. We stayed at the Charlie Creek Inn in nearby Wabash, IN. Great side trip; tour takes an hour or less. I'm just glad his boyhood house has been preserved despite the split house. To think that it all started with piano, violin, French, and dancing lessons in Peru, IN.
