Great place to go with a family. I am a photographer and I got such great photos there! Nice people, friendly animals. My family and I go here every year and love it every time! Try to go on the ride it will take you through fields of animals, you can feed them too!
We had a great time. Here are some photos and videoof our first trip there. We go back every year.http://billwh.edu.glogster.com/animal-lover-grandboys
More than a zoo, the Amish guides are very friendly and always happy to talk to you and answer the tourist questions. Lots of exotic animals and being able to feed them is a huge plus. Definitelyworth the stop.
I took my grandchildren to the petting farm and it was an instant hit. Very interactive. A wide range of animals. You take a horse drawn wagon ride through a large area that has many animals. The ostrich and zebra were a hit with the kids. I would recommend this place to anyone with kids.
I went there today with my parents and grandpa and it was great. There, you get to feed various animals such yak, elk, zebra, Texas Longhorn, zebu, fallow deer, a wildebeest, a zedonk (a zebra-donkey hybrid), water buffalo, Barbary sheep and lots more. There's also a walk-in area where porcupines, a macaque monkey, spider monkeys, various avians, lemurs, a skunk, an alligator and various baby animals live. It's funny when the animals follow the wagon, begging for their animal feed. It's better than any of the zoos and animal attractions I've been to during the past 15-20 years.
I Heard such great reviews about this place, and being an animal lover I thought I would check It out, I'm sure glad I did !!! Their were so many different animals on the tour, and they came and ate out of your hand while your riding. I highly would recommend this place, if your looking for a fun stop to take the kids or just go by yourself. I will definitely go back, again and again!!!
There are not too many fancy animals. Plenty of cows, goats, etc. You get real close to them, and you can feed them. I went with my wife and my parents. We had a wonderful time.
Well cared for animals. Wonderful family run. If you want to get up close to exotic animals this is a wonderful day trip for the whole family
When we first arrived, three adults, we thought we made a mistake and it was a children's petting zoo. Then we got on the wagon and had the most delightful experience. The wagon ride gives you the chance to experience some exotic animals very up close and personal. This was the highlight of our trip and is an adventure not to be missed!
If you get a chance don't miss taking a wagon ride & feeding the huge variety of animals at this family owned & run park/farm. The family is a treasure & no where would you find a larger variety of hoofed animals. They have many exotics that will come to the wagon & eat right from your hand or bucket. They also have a penned area to walk around & view/feed other animals & birds. I can't wait to go back on my next visit!
I don't like to give excellent reviews, but this place deserves it. I was a little uncertain of how things operated when we arrived. There were kids and animals everywhere. You need to go into the little cabin and put your name in for the wagon ride, the only way to experience most of the animals. You can just walk into most of the pens that aren't part of the wagon rides. In fact there is a couple slides that dump your kids right into a pen with goats and a pot belly pig! I was told about this place by a co-worker and I must admit it wasn't a let down in any way. It is run by an Amish family, and everyone one in the family is involved. You can bring your own food for a picnic lunch if you'd like, they have two picnic areas. On the wagon ride you will get up close and personal with most of the animals feeding them pellets. There is a barrel train that is towed by a small horse for the kids to ride in as well. They do have beverages for purchase, but I didn't see any food. All and all well worth the time to find.
This is a really nice animal park, a large variety of animals that you can get up close and personal with, very friendly staff, and a fun way to spend an afternoon. The wagon ride is very nice and let's you get REALLY close to the animals. If you are in the area check it out!
What a hidden gem. We have been to Shipshewana several times but have never made it out to Dutch Creek Farm Animal Park. I can safely say that from this point on we will be stopping here every trip. There is a small fee, but it is more than worth what you pay. You can pet and hold several animals. Even our toddler was able to pet and hold these animals. Then we went on the ride. When you board you are given a dish of feed to feed the animals as you come to them. You get to feed and pet many animals. Camels, Zebra, Water Buffao, Ostriches, and many other animals. The driver takes his time and lets everyone in the wagon have a chance to interact with these animals. The family that runs the park was very friendly and they have a great thing going. You will not be disappointed if you make the short drive out to the park.
Agree with all previous reviews, this is our family's new favorite place to go! Parents, 17 yr old, 11yr old, and two 2 yr olds all had a great time.
I have to admit that I was a little worried when my parents wanted take the grandkids to some "safari wildlife" place. I almost sat the adventure out. So glad that I didn't, it was awesome! I don't know who had the most fun! Grandparents, parents, and grandkids all had a blast! Kids (ages 4 and 5) were kinda bored at the FT. Wayne Zoo, but they are still talking about this place weeks later! Look at the pics and read the reviews. All five stars? That should be enough to make you want to check it out. The wagon ride is a must. The people are great. There are picnic areas too, so pack a lunch. Oh yes, almost forgot: sing "Old McDonald" to the cockatoo a he might dance for you!
