Just wish they would offer packages (i.e.. unlimited activities (not video games) for a few hours for one flat price.Best pizza in town, yep....this is no frozen pizza folks, this is fresh, handmade pizza with the best crust around!
Zao Island, perfect for a family outing filled with fun. They have bounce house, bumper cars, go karts, mini golf, arcade, batting cages, alligator feeding and food. Having birthday party? It's great but they need to change how they do celebrations. Booking a party back to back is CRAZY! Over booked with other parties. Parties on top of another party. Our party was upstairs. Extremely hot!!! No air conditioning. Party downstairs, one near the bathroom, several outside. One bathroom in the entire place. SO this place is extremely booked! Which resulted in 15-20 minute wait to go to the bathroom. :( Okay, they need to up date the table covers. They are worn out and the pictures on them are barely there. Need to have crayons and color sheet for kids at the party. There needs to be a separate ordering and take out area for the food. Why? Did I mention over booked parties and over booked out door activities? My goodness too many people! I didn't like the alcohol being served either. I understand this is a family place but drunk people! I feel uncomfortable letting my children ride in a go kart with someone drunk. There needs to be better management and someone in charge of the parties. We had issues with kids coming into our party trying to get pizza and drinks. They thought they were still at their party! Instead of just placing a " reserved" sign there needs to be a sign with the party guest of honor then a rope or banner closing off the party area. Bounce area didn't have a employee present it was a zoo with too many kids. They need to maintain that area and make sure both especially the little bounce house is aired up properly. Go Karts...long lines and the waiting is ridiculous. Mini golf confusing course especially at night. Needs to be up dated: painting, cleaning and more mini golf attractions into the game. Alligator feeding fun!!! I think they need to add a stepping area for kids because it's hard for little one's to see. Or put up clear plastic area around so, little one's can see better. Not a fan of live entertainment. Especially near the arcade area and the alcohol hut. (sigh) Your feeding the gators, music blasting and folks drinking? This is supposed to be a family place! How difficult is it to take the entertainment and booze to the other side of the area. That way kids and adults don't mixed. Arcade fun! Yet some games don't work the reloading station doesn't work. Prizes a little weak but fun for kids. Need more toddler games. I'm not saying this place is bad I'm saying it needs a bit more management on things. If my oldest didn't have a birthday in December I would definitely come here for his party. I would say I'm stunned at the amount of kindness our party hostess was. She needs a raise! Sweet and very thoughtful. Everything about our party was fantastic! I just, wish things on the grounds and a few party alternatives could be changed. If your planning a party please come here! No need for a deposit, just come and have fun. Pay when your party is done. You can bring your own decorations/ballons/cake. They provide plates/napkins/forks. Don't let my picky side discourage you. I am only stating my opinion on this place. If you are looking for a place to park when it's over booked and crazy. Don't park in the back area there are metal spikes sticking out of the concrete!!!! Dangerous!!! Especially if you trip or car tires get punched by it. Just book your party early and don't stay to late!!!! It's insanely busy and over crowded but fun!
We found this great little amusement park because we were looking for some go-cart fun, but found it to be full of activities. It's a clean well kept little park with an arcade, restaurant, mini-golf, go-carts, laser tag, and batting cages. You can load up a card with funds and then just swipe as you go. We enjoyed the 18 hole mini golf, go-carts, laser tag, a few arcade games and the batting cages. Our daughter who hasn't ever played baseball was able to hit most of the balls thrown from the slow softball cage. After we went to ValpoVelvet for ice cream, but then saw another ice cream shop and a cup cake shop a block away. Next time I'll leave a little more time to explore the downtown.
Went there with our 5 years old. What a great time he had. We played mini-golf, (two to choose from) rode the go-carts, rode the air bumper cars, played games inside the arcade, climbed the giant air slide, played in the batting cage's. There's a place to stop and eat, lots of tables and chairs outside to just sit at an umbrella table and watch people and relax. We really enjoyed our time there. We spent a good 3 hours having family fun.
Zao Island has done a lot in recent years to improve its offerings. It has a basic arcade game area and a pizza restaurant/party area. Generally, the establishment is clean and most of the time, it's maintained well. (The golf course is the biggest maintenance obstacle) Outside, there are batting cages, an inflatable slide, alligator feeding, bumper cars, mini golf, go carts, and a building with laser tag. It makes for a really fun time for dates or outings with children. Because they've converted to cards instead of tokens and tickets from the games, it makes it easier for kids not to lose those. Even though many of the games seem somewhat of a casino nature, Zao Island is a really nice place to go with the family.
We drove by here before on our way to Chicago and never really noticed it (somehow missed the giant roadside dragon), but were happy we eventually stopped on another trip. Very nice minute golf course with some decent shaded areas, go-karts, large gaming area, and a pretty big restaurant. It looked like they mainly served pizza, which we did not order (already ate beforehand) but it looked and smelled great. Next time!
We had a birthday party here for my boyfriends 6 year old daughter. We rented an area where we set up the presents and cake. We ordered pizza and to our surprise it was really good! So we ordered some more. The arcade was cool and we had a blast playing laser tag. It started to rain so we didn't do the mini golf but we did get to do the go carts and bumper cars. Everyone had a great time and the staff was friendly. I would recommend having a child's Birthday here. We will be returning.
We have been to Zao Island several times. The arcade games, golf and batting cages are great. The slides were very dirty. The food is just okay. The one thing I disliked was that several adults were smoking! It just seems like a place like that, full of children, would not allow adults to smoke in public. They were sitting at the tables, standing by the pitching machines, everywhere!! I'm obviously not a smoker but I just feel like a family place like this should up it's standards a little. Other than that, the place is great. It's really nice to have a place to spend with your kids, outside. At least until the smokers walk by and force you to breathe their second hand smoke.
We visit Zao Island a couple of times each year. There is plenty to do including video games, go carts and mini golf. This place is always really clean and the food is great. They have a great ticket redemption area too.
We have taken the kids here alot and they never tire of it. Colada's pizza is excellent, the batting cages, go carts, arcade, and mini golf are all fun. We haven't done the laser tag yet but I am sure its in our future. Everytime we go here we do something different so we parents aren't even bored by watching the kids do the same thing over and over-we usually race them with the go carts before its over. They've put alot of money into the place the last 5 years and it shows. Where else in Indiana can you feed alligators?
Zao Island is dominated by its popular pizza parlor and a very large money-eating arcade...but it also features two 18-hole mini golf courses with a few interesting wrinkles and a challenging (albeit short) go-kart track with a rumbling elevated straightaway made of planks.Zao is not a cheap outing, but the helpful young guys who supervise the karts knock themselves out to help you have a fun ( but safe ) ride.
Two quality mini golf courses. Numerous activities including batting cages, go carts, and arcade games. Large eating area with main fare of pizza. Something for everyone.
Zao Island is a fun, family entertainment center. They have go-carts, mini-golf, laser tag, batting cages, inflatable slide, alligator feeding pond (summer) and large arcade. With all of those activities there is plenty to do. The best part of Zao Island is the décor. It is a fun, tropical island themed place. Everything is colorfully painted, lots of hut design, palm trees etc... It is nice as adults to just sit outside and relax, looking at the landscaping, waterfalls, tropical theme. We have gone there for years for a night out and they host birthdays parties. The amazing thing is it is always changing. It seems like every 6 months to a year, they rearrange, or add to it so it is always interesting to see the changes. The limited menu is good. We love the pizza and bread bites. The only negatives are that the food is more expensive (pizzas start at $16), the kitchen area is tiny so food takes along time to receive (but okay if you are doing activities there). Sometimes there are a lot of kids waiting at the arcade ticket redemption area to get prizes, and they always seem to be understaffed. But overall, it is a fun place to spend time with your family.
Grateful for indoor air conditioning, and a clean bathroom, the adults kept happy while the kids had good old fashioned fun with miniature golf & go carts.
Best pizza and one of my favorite mini golf places, grew up going here as a child (under different ownership) and now I enjoy taking my family there, its the same great place that they just continue to add to and make improvements!
