This is my favorite theater! It is a great place to catch a classic play for a reasonable price. It is an intimate environment and is located conveniently in the heart of downtown. They offer valet parking, but we usually park at the Washington Street mall parking garage just east of the theater. It is very reasonable - usually less than $5.Every year, "A Christmas Carol" is a must-see for the whole family. We went to "The Game's Afoot" in April 2014, and it was hilarious and very well done. Our 12 and 10 year old children at the time loved it! We went to "The Hound of the Baskervilles" in February 2015 and it was excellent as well. We would love to see it again! I would highly recommend this theater for a great night out with your significant other or the entire family.
Great place to bring anyone to see a performance, beautiful building located in Downtown Indianapolis.
Always an amazing time when we go here!! Productions are top notch! It's a great place for a date night for quality pieces!
Saw "A Christmas Carol" here, our first trip to IRT. The production was terrific: inventive staging and use of the cast along with close adherence to the beloved text. The theater itself is beautiful. Ornate, intimate, comfortable. We'll be back for future productions.
We saw "A Christmas Carol"--first time here for both my husband & myself. This is a beautiful, intimate venue. The production was very well done--we were not disappointed--will definitely be back!
We go to some version of A Christmas Carol every year and this was our first visit to IRT for this show. I loved it! The theatre is beautiful and so well maintained. They had a bar and allow drinks in the theatre which was really nice. There is plenty of parking at nearby mall garages but they also offer valet if you'd prefer for $15. We sat in the balcony and had a clear view with no issues hearing every single word. I would most definitely recommend this for your family.
We usually start the Christmas season by attending A Christmas Carol at IRT. This year, the production was ok but not as good as in years past. The actor who played Scrooge for many years (Charles Goad) was back in the play but not as Scrooge. New Scrooge not nearly as good. Also, play was shortened - not sure why. Still a great evening!
We took our sons (15 and 10) to see Christmas Carol. It was outstanding. IRT does a great job. The setting is perfect so there isn't a bad seat in the house. The play was amazing. We've seen it three times and each time there's unique touches that make it a little different but still true to Dickens classic.
Fir one has just an inkling of an interest in race automobiles that must go to this museum. I seriously doubt if there is another museum in the world that matches the collection of racing cars that are in this museum. It is a wonderful experience to see this and is worthy of an entire afternoon.
I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. The sound is powerful and the stage is well lit. We saw Dance Kaleidoscope and were really impressed with the dancers and the music. We would certainly go back again!
I am a season ticket holder to the repertory theater and have not seen a bad show there. The first play of this season was Two Gentlemen of Verona and it was fantastic with amazing acting, drama, humor, and all around great performance. I would definitely recommend going to a show as a date night.
My wife and I attended the play "Red" at the IRT on 10/25. The upper theatre is quite intimate. The hosts and hostesses were most helpful. Seating was comfortable. Good selection of drinks available. The two actors were phenomenal. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
I saw a production of Two Gentlemen of Verona in Canada perhaps 16 years ago. It was about as distant as I have ever seen Shakespeare performed. Even though I had been to the real Stratford and the Barbicon in London I could not get close to that Canadian production. I had not been to IRT for probably 20 years so I really had little idea what to expect. This Indiana Repertory Theatre production was a wonderful piece of entertainment as well as being excellent Shakespeare. If you have never experienced Shakespeare this is about as good as it gets. Whether your an experienced Shakespeare enthusiast or a novice I would recommend you see it if you can.
The building is worth the price of admission! The shows are superb! I enjoy a night on the town, getting dressed up and going to the theatre. It's located downtown Indy within walking distance on the best resturants. I highly reccommend it to anyone who has never been. It is a wonderful experience and one I go back to again and again.
I love to watch plays here and visit Indi. It is a very nice place. The last time I visited there was a wedding taking place there.
