This was a lot more fun that what I was expecting and not nearly as hard as it looked. Once you get up in the trees and start moving the rush takes over. I did feel the workout in my arms and legs later in the day, but well worth it. Make sure to take advantage of the water at all the stations! The time flew by fast.
It's a good time. However, even though we told everyone in our party what to expect, some were still unprepared for how challenging this is.
Although I ultimately had a good time navigating through this picturesque course with my friends, I want to warn others that the Go Ape zip lining course involves much more than leisurely zip lining. It requires you to complete physically challenging obstacles up to and between multiple tree platforms. For those of us who carry extra weight and/or lack upper body strength, you may greatly struggle with climbing the rope ladders and rope nets. Also, the course will take you about three hours to complete, and you will likely get very dirty. Although the instructors were helpful, note that they aren't present with you after you complete the training portion of the course. You're on your own to hook and unhook your own lines.
I'm scared of heights, so I was a little unsure of doing this. But my husband and kids talked me into it. The staff makes sure you're safe and helps you every step of the way. I was actually sad when it was over! This is definitely worth the money and we will be going back next year.
Zip lining has been on my bucket list for a while now. I know....not overly adventurous for many people but....I have a big issue with motion sickness and an overall fear of not being in control! I chickened out of opportunities in the jungles of Mexico, over a famous theme park and through the woods of the mountains. So....it was way past time for me to suck it up and face my fear! What I wasn't planning on was facing any unexpected fears. :) Go Ape features not only zip lines but also Tarzan swings and many treetop crossings. It was during the training and "practice" session with our instructor that I realized the zip line would not be my challenge today. It was.......the Tarzan swing!!! I stood on the ledge convincing myself to step off for what seemed like 15 minutes but I am sure was more like 3 or so. And this was just the practice area....much smaller than what I was in store for. Without divulging all of Go Ape's surprises I will just say that the adventure was AMAZING!!! I had a wonderful time and faced my fear straight on!! My heart raced with fear and it leaped with joy and the wind whipped through my hair on 5 amazing zip line runs and my palms sweated with anxiety but in the end I came away with a HUGE smile on my face for not only having crossed something off of my bucket list but for being stronger than I was 3 hours before!Super exhilarating and a unique adventure opportunity!!! I absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to try something new! :)
It was fun. Had a great time. My family loved it. we enjoy our with the small group we had. We plan to go back someday with more family friends
My son and husband spent Labor Day in the trees and had an absolutely fantastic time. The courses were tough but so much fun. The instructors were wonderful and very helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks so much Go Ape!! Well worth the $$$!!
Mike and Trish were fantastic in getting us ready and teaching us the ropes! PUN INTENDED!! The obstacles were fun and challenging and so rewarding when completed! THANK YOU!!!
Excellent day out! Went with my fiance who was more eager than I was to complete the course. I was apprehensive at first but the staff were very friendly and reassuring and once I got going I had an amazing time! Safety brief was effective and reassuring. The Tarzan Swing and the zip lines are exhilarating and so much fun!
We were a group of 10 who truely enjoyed the experience...our 7 teenagers and 3 adults were entertained over 3 hours on the course. Lots of laughs and personal challenges. Family friendly. Children need to be at least 10 and also a specific height to participate. Groups of 10 or more can call 800 number and receive a discount. Property is in State Park, can do swimming nearby but will need to pay extra.
Go APE was a great experience. Instructors and staff were extremely friendly, yet professional. The treetop areas and equipment were well maintained- it seemed like as long as you were hooking in correctly (as you had been well taught by your instructor) there was no way to get hurt. The actual crossings, ziplines, and Tarzan net: so much fun! Definitely worth the price. Eagle Creek Park is a lovely park, so since you've already paid the $5 entry fee, you may as well bring a picnic and head out for a little hike when you're done.
This should have been just an ordinary day for us out at Eagle Creek Park; just walk, enjoy nature and maybe have a little fun. We saw "Go Ape!" adventure trailer and thought: "why not to try it?" Little Zip-lining would’ve been really nice. And, what was great that our daughter just turned ten to be able to participate. Next, we went off into a training section, where we looked ahead and realized that there is no way our daughter would even climb onto the first ladder. Once we got there, she did climb but froze at the first platform. We had a wonderful instructor named Joe and, at this point, his suggestion was that if she is afraid, it would be better to stop right here and get her down. They would completely refund our fees. After my daughter came down, we were about to have her harness removed but she wanted to try again. We were not sure if it was a good idea and with a support of our instructor, we decided to try one more time. Unlike the previous time, she climbed up and stayed on the platform. With mama’s help she made her way across couple of the obstacles. Next came the real test to see if she can continue: the first “Tarzan swing”. Not without an effort, she strapped herself to a rope and leaped into the net on the other side. She climbed her way up and stood on a platform. This is where the time seemed to freeze; she could not unhook herself off of the swing. This was point of no return and there was nobody on the other side to help her. It took about 10 minutes for Joseph and us to instruct her on what she needed to do, and for her not to give up getting it done. She dug deep and found an ape within: unhooked herself and went on to complete an entire course. This would’ve been impossible if it was not for the patience of the great staff and our daughter’s perseverance. That day we saw several people walking off the experience but, there were many who stayed the course; some that followed said that our daughter gave them inspiration to continue. “Go Ape!” is definitely not for everyone, it is nerve-wracking, challenging and can be taxing but, once you dig deep, the emotional reward for completing the course is priceless!
Had a ton of fun doing this with my girlfriend, and for $55 the cheapest zipline activity I've ever found. They had great customer service as well -- we actually missed our slot because we forgot about the time change and they let us go in the next slot no problem even though it was already full. We'll go again!
It was awesome! My 12 year old twin daughters went with their dad. They loved it and can't wait to go again. The instructors were great. I love the great walking paths so we could watch everything they did and take great pictures! Totally worth it, It does a take a few hours though so plan accordingly. Reservations required. Set in a great park so other things to do as well-beach,hiking, etc
My girlfriends and I took our kids for a fun day at Go Ape. Four moms and seven kids ranging from 10 to 14 years. After getting over the initial shock that everyone is responsible for their own safety lines and the guides stay on the ground, we had a great experience. There are 5 sections, the first being just a little practice course that is low to the ground. The remaining 4 stations all include a rope ladder that must be climbed to get up into the treetop obstacles. Each section has different types of obstacles and sometimes you have a choice as to which ones you want to do. Some are more difficult than others. Each section ends with a zip line. When coming in on the zip line, there is no hand braking on these. You come in full force. I have knee problems and was concerned about the impact on my knees, but I found that if I turned around and dragged my legs I was always able to stop without any issues. They have a bed of mulch that you land in. The kids were getting really good at landing with a run. Always fun to watch everyone come in for their "landing"!! The big tarzan swing was quite intimidating. You have a little free fall before you actually swing and then you pretty much face plant into a cargo net. Once again, very fun to watch everyone else do it!! We all conquered the rope swing with a few screams and laughter from the kids. Great way to spend quality time with your kids. We will definitely be back to do it again. Maybe we will bring the husbands next time and see how well they fare!
