I visited this park with my sister and her kids and we had a blast! It's a far better experience than I've had at other wildlife facilities. There were multiple feeding and interaction opportunities with giraffe, lemur, bird, rhino, tortoise, rabbit, guinea pig, kangaroo and lots of trainers walking around with animals. My favorite was the snow leopard exhibit. The two sister-cats were very active and playing with one another. The trainer outside the exhibit was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The staff went out of their way to make sure the kids were engaged in the experience at every step of our trip.If I'm ever visiting Kansas again, I'm certainly returning to Tanganyika!
We have visited many zoos. This is not a zoo, it is an animal experience. Our children and visitors marveled as they touched and fed furry lemurs, experienced the long tongue of a giraffe reaching towards a tidbit, allowed brightly colored parrots to sip nectar from a cup and braved tossing a piece of hippo food into an enormous gaping mouth! Our sons also had the unique experience of riding a camel. All of that was remarkable, but I was in awe as a zoo keeper gently pulled back a kangaroo pouch to reveal a tiny joey nestled next to it's mother. I felt like I was on National Geographic! Make sure you purchase the optional feeding bands with admission, because that is the BEST PART of this park. Interacting with the animals is a remarkable experience and the band makes it more affordable.
This place was expensive but well worth it, especially if you want to see kangaroos up close and personal. The animals appear to be well-cared for and the atmosphere was quote pro-family.We didn't eat or drink here, beyond water, but we did manage to come home with several souvenirs from the gift shop.Pay extra to feed the animals and don't forget to visit all of them. My teenage daughter was quite enchanted, which says something when you remember teenage girls. *smile* Watch out for the birds since they eat and may poop at the same time. We visited in the afternoon for several hours and while it was hot, there was plenty of shade and a number of places to rest. We ended up reconvening at the picnic tables near the baby cats, in the same building as the gift shop.
Grandkids loved this experience. Feeding the animals and hearing first hand by a guide made this a superior animal learning experience.
Traveling with a small child, it is important to have plenty of adventures. We went to Tanganyika Wildlife Park for a few hours. It is an impressive walking zoo that has a vast variety of animals. I was impressed with the kangaroos petting and the lemur experience both of which were worth the long wait. If you are looking to kill a few hours in the Wichita area, this is definitely worth a visit.
This year was the first year we went to their Halloween pumpkins in the park. It was a great time. My kids are 6 and younger so they were in total awwww. The park was lite up very nicely. The park personnel and candy distributors were dressed up and were very courteous. Most of the animal were in bed for the night, but that's ok since we visit often. We live in Goddard and are so thankful we have a place like this to visit with such wonderful animals and personnel.
the ticket lady was very nice. But park rangers were very rude in giving instructions do a degree considered hostile behavior. My daughter was worried. I was NOT happy
This was a really fun experience. I went with my sister and it was one of the best things we have done on vacation ever! We saw a wide range of animals and got to interact with several different animals. We also saw families with young children and the elderly/disabled interacting with animals. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend for anyone who likes animals. 10/10.
This is an awesome wildlife park. The big cats are some of my favorites. It really has a one-of-a-kind lemur feeding experience. Those lemurs just love to jump around. It's a great place for families because there are several calm animals (like rabbits to feed) and the exhibits are all nearby so you don't have to walk for miles and miles to see it all. I also saw some animals that I don't see in regular zoos, which was cool.
This place was more than I could have hoped for. It was a great and relaxing environment and very clean. We did the extra package so the kids could feed the animals and it was so worth it. The best part is feeding the lemurs. I enjoyed our visit so much more then if we go to the Sedgwick county zoo. We will definitely go back.
I loved this place. It was a great way to end our corporate conference. Lots of great pictures and a variety of animals. I wished I could have brought the kids.
Visiting Tanganyika Park is an exciting experience. My granddaughters really enjoyed interacting with the lemurs, and also feeding the beautiful Lorikeets and other animals. The park is clean and beautifully landscaped We had a fun day.
We recently visited Tanganyika Wildlife Park. We decided to just go for the day and have lunch there as well. We met a friend there who is in a wheelchair. I was surprised to see that the gift shop was not handicap accessible. Though we definitely do not mind holding the door for our friend, she would not have been able to get in without someone to hold the door open for her. The animals were very neat to see and the park was clean. Feeding the lemurs was an exciting experience. We were disappointed that there are no drinking fountains. If you want something to drink, make sure that you bring money as you will have to pay for it or bring something in with you. We might visit again if we have coupons for a discounted price, otherwise we will go to the Sedgwick County Zoo as there is much more to see and a better fit for our family.
I took my 3 and 4 year old boys here and they loved it! It is expensive but worth the cost for a private zoo. This is like no other zoo I have been to due to the interaction with the animals. The boys got to feed a giraffe, rabbits, tortoises, goats, chickens, birds, lemurs, and even the possibility of feeding a rhinoceros! They rode a camel and petted kangaroos! It is small, but very well kept and pretty. I would highly recommend taking kids to this zoo.
It may be small but it's a fantastic place to visit! Tanganyika is a most beautiful place to walk and see the animals. I like the fact it's so open. Our favorite part is feeding the lemurs and the giraffes. A must see when you are in the Wichita area.
