I had never heard of this mansion but stumbled upon it here on Trip Advisor. Boy am I glad I did!The house itself is filled with antiques of the time and the house has been lovingly cared for. The Leavenworth Historical Society has done an AMAZING job. The tour itself is very interesting as the details of the home are discussed. Be sure to look at all of the details of everything from the doorknobs to the woodwork to the stained glass windows and flooring. Incredibly interesting and beautiful. So happy to have found this little jewel in nearby Leavenworth! The $5 admission fee is well worth the hour or so you will spend in the house. There is also a small gift shop with some vintage items for sale, also to benefit the restoration of the house.
The staff at the Leavenworth Historical Society has gone through great lengths to preserve the rich history and nostalgia of the Carroll Mansion. Whenever we send group tours to the mansion, they are greeted by staff dressed in vintage gowns and receive a full, detailed and interesting guided tour of the mansion. The stain glass windows, parquet floors, paintings, woodwork and antiques are just stunning! They even have a cute gift shop where you can buy trinkets, accessories, some clothing and souvenirs to help you remember your visit. The Carroll Mansion is a must if you ever have an hour to spare in Leavenworth, Kansas! It's definitely worth it.
What a house! Old Victorian house in great condition is the basis for the Leavenworth Historical Society. The personal tour was fabulous.
A Wonderful attraction, which one should not miss during their visit to Leavenworth, Kansas. Great exhibits on Victorian Life, and Local (Leavenworth Co.) History. Lots of artifacts that tells the story of both famous and non-famous local residents. Beautiful, and educational!
Nice tour and enjoyed seeing this beautiful home. Want to go back at Christmas for another tour. Highly recommend Leavenworth as a great day trip for the Kansas City area. Plan to go more often.
Many visitors to Leavenwoth will pass up this museum because they think it is simply an old home, but they would be wrong. The furnishings and artifacts speak of a time passed. Children especially enjoy learning how people lived during the Victorian Period. Some of us older folks remember the ice box grandma use to have or maybe the cook stove. This home is different in that it was a wealthy family that lived here so they had the best. If you appreciate beautiful hand carved woodwork and lots of stained glass, you will enjoy your visit to the Carroll Mansion which is owned by the Leavenworth County Historical Society.
We stopped here on a whim and are glad we did. The tour guide was very thorough with lots of interesting facts. It's a lovely old home and beautifully restored.
