This museum is a hidden gem in Lindsborg, KS. and showcases Lester Raymer's many artistic talents. He was a true Renaissance man considering his painting, sculpture, fabric art and many other art forms.
A talented tour guide led us on a fascinating 45 minute tour of this Chicago art institute educated artist's working residence. Raymer's life's work vast range of mediums included Spanish inspired oil paintings, water colors, quaint toys and sculptures, some with a religious theme. This artistic genius used numerous recycled materials. The studio amazed my husband and me. The studio housing a guest artist was icing on the cake. (Suggested donation of $5 each, a bargain) This is a hidden gem as the 'house' sits back from the street. The structure housing Raymer's art is not as fine as the larger museum in Lindsborg, but we enjoyed the art more.
Amazing find. Lester Raymer's wide-ranging talent are on display in his original work spaces, just as he and his wife left it. Lester used a variety of media and created amazing works. The highlights are the Christmas toys, much of salvaged materials. The house studio itself is beautiful. We had a great guide who was very talented and aware of the artist and his work.
