K-State takes pride in keeping their garden facilities in top notch! It seems like they are always working to do upgrades to the gardens to make them even better for their guests! This is a great place to study, if you are looking for a quiet spot. It is also a popular destination for wedding photos and senior pictures! Be sure to drive by at night and see the fountain all lit up!
I like to visit the University Gardens to get inspiration for designing special places in my own garden, to see the seasons change, and to escape to a special place. I love the iris collection and the beautiful vintage greenhouse.
It is a nice place to walk through any day. Always enjoy it. We have been several times in the past two years and always enjoy seeing what is new.
We have walked through the gardens many times, and had some wedding pictures taken there. They do a great job making sure it always looks great. Summer is a great time to see it though
I went to visit this with my sisters when they visited a while back and was thoroughly pleased with this little gem. I have lived here for 2 decades and had never been to it. A great way to spend a nice afternoon.
A walk through the gardens is always beautiful and restful. There are several benches to sit, fountains, rose garden, shade plants and native plants. If you have a spare 30 minutes, or more, it is worth the stop.
When we first moved to the area, I kept hearing rumors about an insect zoo/ museum. It took me a month of asking around but I finally found someone that had been there. What a treat! Excellent exhibits, knowledgeable staff, things to touch and see. Loved it. One of the highlights of my kids first weeks in Kansas.Check out this video for more info in the insect zoo:https://vimeo.com/54471338
Love to go and see what new and enjoy the beauty of this place!! Dedicated staff and volunteers make this a gem in Manhattan. Everyone should take the time to visit, it's free!!!!
Lots of local plants and looks like it's going to be expanding in the future. There's an insect zoo if you are expecially brave.
We visited on Memorial Day, so the barn was closed, but just walking around the gardens on a sunny day was wonderful. There is some construction right now that looks like an expansion project, and I can't wait to go back when it's all finished! Kid/stroller friendly.
It's a fantastic hidden treasure to the north of campus across from some Greek houses. It's a lovely place to visit, but particularly in the spring when it's not too hot and everything is beginning to bloom.
One of K-State's treasures is the Gardens situated on the K-State campus. It is a learning laboratory as well as an educational resource for students and the public. Of course, this is a growing project - there are several phases of development. The best part - it is free to visit. My favorite area would be the rose gardens when they are in full bloom, but the whole area is beautiful - from the centerpiece fountain to numerous sitting/relaxing areas. There are little signs that help you know what type of flowers there are. Also on site is an insect zoo (small admission fee).If you like taking photos, this is the ideal place, and not just for nature photos. This is the perfect backdrop for school photos and couple photos for much of the year.
I live in Manhattan and have visited the garden many times. It is a place that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. There is a rose garden and a large area displaying daylillies. Other areas are planted to prairie and perrenial plants and there is a vegetable garden area as well as berries and other fruits. Benches, sculptures and a large fountain complement the plantings. It is a relaxing and beautiful place to visit in Manhattan.
Kansas State University Gardens was one of the nicest I've seen on a college campus. Everything was properly managed and it was a great attraction for the college campus. I would love to revisit.
Very well kept with a butterfly garden and large water fountain. The insect zoo was very facinating.
