The building itself is really nice. I've played in band concerts there in high school and I've seen a few plays, performances, and a concert there. The concert was Dustin Lynch, and even though I rated TPAC "excellent", it was mainly for the building and the actual stuff happening on stage. I have a few complaints, which I probably wouldn't if I was just there sitting the whole time for a show. First off, they don't sell food. Just drinks and candy (at least, that's all I ever ran accross). And their card system stopped working. I get it, technology, but come on. Some people never carry cash.I had meet and greets for Dustin Lynch. It was a mess. There's no note with the passes telling you where to go or when. I'm sure that's the DL management's doing, but if I wasn't around for when an associate told someone else where the meet and greet was and when, I'd never even know. There's poor communication when it comes to that. Really poor. They need to at least have the box office window give us that information so people aren't wondering and trying to find someone to ask.But those are the only bad experiences I've had there. Just communication and no good concessions.
They bring in shows- but don't really think about what people want- at least that's my opinion. I would suggest they think about their ticket prices a bit- some of the shows would be great if they were a little more reasonable...
We have attended concerts, enjoyed comedians, and seen plays. Good views from all areas. Parking is a problem. Concessions are available. Had to deal with two ladies who had too much beer.
We just saw 'Chicago,' the band, last weekend and couldn't have been more surprised at what a great venue this was. Coming from out of town, we didn't realize how intimate this place is. There are theater seats, not like a sporting arena, and the floor seating is inclined so you can actually see the stage and not someone's head in front of you. The acoustics provided great sound. We'd go again in a heartbeat for another concert. This building was a treat to see. The parking garage across the street was FREE! You don't find that in big cities. Loved it.
Came into Topeka to see Pat Matheny (acoustic and electric jazz music).Venue was nice, older theater with theater seating. All staff and ushers encountered were fantastically nice!Acoustics were not the best, but not sure if that was the hall or the band's set up. It was COLD in theater for performance, even with wearing my coat.
There are many great performances, dance recitals, Nutcrackers, corporate training sessions, children's programming, etc. held at TPAC. Guests come from hours away to see a concert. Pricing is comparable to other venues and usually set by the promoter rather than TPAC.
A beautiful facility, Judy Collins and Don McLean were excellent and presented in a wonderful way. I just don't appreciate being told I can't dance or take pictures. McLean said do it anyway so we did.
This is a Topeka staple. I went to see a circus at 7 then I went to see the Harlem Globetrotters with my Dad (at 13), saw plays by Karen Hastings Player's, took the grandson to see Golden Dragons Acrobats, oh, just so many many things to see and watch at this landmark! I can't forget the volunteers! A great bunch of people!
There is reason to go to the TPAC!!! Went once for Larry the Cable Guy and it was the worst show I have ever seen. Seats are uncomfortable and layout is not great. Why do people find him funny and why can't Topeka book some good gigs! I think the residents of Topeka are craving some good entertainment besides all the terrible bars and really terrible CHAIN restaurants. No wonder everyone goes to Lawrence or KC. Where is the quality of life! Need to hire someone who can reel in some good performers. The Steifel Theatre in Salina is GREAT. Great Venue! Great shows! and usually sold out.
Have been to numerous concerts here and I like that this is not a huge, cavernous building. You feel like you get a more up close and personal experience from the performers than you do in a huge arena.
I have been to several performances and they always get you seated and start the show right on time as well as empty the theatre in nothing flat. Very well organized and the building has plenty of restrooms and accomodations during intermission. Parking isn't a problem if you come early enough and I enjoy the variety of shows that they offer throughout the year.
Performed here. Great venue and amazing crew there!
Have been a few times, not in a while. Would be nice to see if any updates have been made. Is very nice for Topeka but is not as nice as KC which is to be expected. Probably worth the trip for a show you want to see.
The building is older and needs a bit of a renovation, and parking can be interesting, but I've attended several good shows here... some that were a surprise to come to Topeka. My favorite show was Ladysmith Black Mambazo... excellent!
TPAC is a gem in Topeka. I have seen many performances, shows, and concerts (Cats, The Christmas Carol, The Nutcracker, Cirque, Kenny Rogers, Ann Murray, just to name a few) at TPAC and they have all been excellent. Topeka needs to do everything possible to support and keep this treasure and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
