Dinner theater with local talent. We enjoy the improv groups as well. The food is always good. Great time for couples. New Year's Eve shows are memorable.
All actors are volunteers and the shows are wonderful! Reasonable prices for a show, dinner and nice evening with friends. Website available to check on mainstage as well as children's and other performances during the year.
My wife and I went to watch them perform Young Frankenstein. This is a dinner Theatre. The show itself was awesome. Talented performers, great direction. The food was just okay with the exception of dessert during intermission where I proceeded to have a most decadent chocolate cake. I highly recommend seeing any of their shows. Have if you have the dinner don't expect much but I assure you, you will enjoy the dessert.
Saw "Catch Me if You Can". It was entertaining and fun. I also found the food good. All in all a nice night!
TCT is always a great place to go. We have seen comedy, drama, musicals and improv. Check their website. Mary Poppins is there now. There are dinner options and no meal options. Always enjoy the New Year's Eve show.
I have attended the Topeka Civic Theatre many times and the acting, costumes, sets, lighting, and music are always well done. When you include the wide variety of shows, good food, and nice selection of wines and drinks, it is always an evening to be remembered with good friends and family. I have been blessed by being able to take many different people of all ages to share this experience and it has always been enjoyed. Thank you Topeka Civic Theatre for the great job you do and I hope many other people will take advantage of this theatre as the performances rival those off broadway in New York.
If your idea of community theatre is a crowded room, a tiny stage, and mediocre talent, you are in for a big surprise. In terms of facilities, talent and production values this community theatre rivlals the best regional professional theatres. There are two stages, the main stage offering typical community theatre plays and musicals, and a second stage where more cutting edge material is presented.
This is one of the nicest venues in town and some fun shows. Great seating, small, all seats are good. Popcorn though is $4.00 for a basket which I think is sort of pricey.Check it out - its fun!
We have seen several plays there and have always had a great time. They find the best local talent. We typically go on a night they don't serve dinner. The food is just okay but the entertainment is always worth the price and my time.
We had a fun night out with friends. The musical was funny and the actors/singers were pretty good. The food was better than I expected. It was packed, but the service was fast and friendly.
With a great venue and a stellar collection of local talent, Topeka is blessed with brilliant acting, singing and dancing in a cozy and comfortable environment. The main stage brings a nice variety of pieces throughout the year; everything from Shakespeare to Agatha Christie to farce and popular comedy pieces. The smaller stage does edgier plays for adults as well as shows aimed at kids. Something for everyone! Even if you are not a fan of the particular playwright, you will have to admit that the on-stage talent brings it every time.
The entertainment is top notch. The actors are excellent.there stage presents is exceptional.Enjoyale evening. and good foood.
Wow... what a great little community theatre. We try to see every performance due to the high qulaity.
TCTA as it's known is Topeka's only dinner theater where you can watch live performances and enjoy a great meal! The theater although is not super fancy is very well layout and spacious. The shows are performed my local volunteer actors/actresses, as well as most of the crew. I've been there several times and I've never seen a show I didn't like or had a bad experience. You can buy tickets with or without dinner and also buy dinner at the theater if you change your mind. Drinks and snacks (such as popcorn, trail mix, etc.) are also available at additional cost. You can buy tickets online or at the box office. If you buy online you can actually see a picture of the stage and what it will look like from that exact seat. No photos or video camera are allowed inside. Most people dress up and wear business casual to formal attire although it's not required. They accept cash, debit/credit cards.; not sure about checks.
And, of course, Shannon Reilly is ultimately the best thing since sliced cheese. I have been to so many Laughing Matters (impromtu comedy sketches) that I've lost count. For a long time, seats were $8 a pop, but since the recession they have had to raise it to $10. Still a steal. Laughing Matters have an array of snacks, desserts and drinks to purchase throughout the show. Audience participation games are great fun. I laugh all the way through. The main stage productions include some great talent. The best show I've seen there so far was Sweeney Todd. I liked it even more than the big screen adaptation. If you check the season schedule, you are sure to find something you like. There's enough diversified theater to appeal to everyone. I've checked out the other offerings (Laughing Matters Jr., youth productions, etc.) however not often enough that I feel I could comment. Regardless, every experience I've had there was wonderful.
