Another one of many Maui beaches that has all of the qualities of what one would picture as an idea Surf Movie setting.Tanned men and women line the beach and play in the surf on every known water sport board.Plenty of free parking, lots of places to enjoy some food while observing all of the water sports.
This place just outside Paia is awesome. A must see! A wonderful opportunity to see very skilled professionals take on the waves. Captured many wonderful surf pictures and turtles as well. there were even some free roaming roosters at picnic park at beach. A truly magnificent find and even better its all free! We even saw a local person with a net fishing in the shallow waters here.
Thsi a must stop on Your way to Hana or Paia. It is past Paia and great, especially if high winds! tasty fruit stand and area for picknick.
We stopped here on a windy day to watch the surfers and windsurfers and what a show it was. They were getting big air and doing all kinds of flips and tricks! If you make it down to the beach you can find lots of sea turtles on the beach, but keep your distance.
Went here with friends and their children. Camped out on the beach, perfect spot to let the kiddos roam around. Watched the surfers take in the sun and surf the gentle waves. Also went to the little beach which was a small climb over...great way to bring in the night- typical drum circle- spinning poi, children running around, semi-hippie arty nightly festy. But nice. Tons of locals to meet here.
Stopped here on the way to Hana. Super cool spot to watch surfers. We also saw some really cool wildlife here. We saw a hide Hawaiian Monk Seal on the beach and several sea turtles. Very cool to see. Recommend a visit here.
We went there after researching that the surfers are practicing on that beach these days. Keeping in mind that we went there on a gray, rainy and foggy afternoon, there were at least 20 surfers catching waves, and catching them beautifully indeed. Had the day been sunny, I am sure my review would comprise of more nature-like comments. However that day, I was most impressed by the nearly 20 grave-like wooden crosses on the rocks near the beach, and by the brave adrenaline junkies in the murky waters.Loved it!
We came to this beach because we heard that in the afternoon the sea turtles come up on the beach to sleep. We were rewarded by seeing them as well as a seal that decided to nap on the beach as well. We had fun watching the sail surfers as well.
Great place to watch surfers. Coastline is spectacular. Parking is easy, a very short walk to the cliffs overlooking the beach. Supposedly the best waves on the island, but I'm not positive about this.
Great time watching the wind surfing! The waves were huge. Great atmosphere. There is plenty of parking.
My wife and I went this afternoon to see the green sea turtles who come ashore to rest around 2:30-3:00pm. It was quite a sight to see these gentle giants. Thankfully, a couple of volunteers were there to keep people at least 15' away from the turtles and to stop thoughtless kids from harassing them. The beach itself is gorgeous and the surfers exciting to watch. You should put this beach on your Maui bucket list.
Took incredible pictures from the lookout here. A must see! Did not spend any time on the beach....the lookout is plenty! Watching surfers on these big waves was pretty awesome!
Great views from the cliffs or the beach...true Maui surf ambiance! A must for anyone who loves the water and surfing. Great picnic spot too...photo ops plus. Remember sun cream and camera!
Always something to feast your eyes on, whether it's the monk seals and turtles or the surfing activity, the beach can accomodate many people and not feel crowded. Wonderful place to hang out and watch the sunset.
Sparkling aqua water, rose colored sunsets, trees for shade, white sand beaches, sparsely populated.Sea tortoises are amazing, please leave their breeding areas in peace, Mahalo!
