great alma fishing float

A great way to spend the day fishing plus we had breakfast on the float. The locals were very welcoming and we were happy to give them the fish we caught since we were on vacation and didn't have any plans to keep them.

We had a good time visiting the float for breakfast. The food was good. The owner and regulars included us in their morning chatting. It would be fun to spend a day on the float fishing....more so for my husband than me. No frills here, but beautiful spot on the river. Glad we did this once. Hint: we were confused on when the shuttle boat would arrive, so called the phone number on the website to arrange a pick up. He returned us to shore when we were ready. No formality at this place.

I am not much for fishing, but sure enjoyed the atmosphere of this float. It kept me note retained all day while my friend caught her limit.

We spent a day recently at the float. The boat picks you up and takes you to the float where you can fish all day for $18 on the MIssissippi River. The cafe is open 7am-3pm and serves good food. Cash only. Bait sold right there and you can also rent equipment such as rod holders or poles. There are plenty of chairs and benches and even some picnic tables. We caught lots of sheepshead, a dog fish, and some walleye. People were very friendly and helpful.

This floating dock offers you a great chance to catch fish, enjoy the crashing water over Lock & Dam #4, and view the majestic bluffs around the Mississippi River valley.

Pretty inexpensive to fish here. Tim and Jim are great guys and will help you with what you need. They also cook a good burger or breakfast.

Jim and Tim are so friendly and accomodating and Bear, the float dog, greets you upon arrival. The fish weren't biting (high water), but we could see that it would be a great time if they were. The shuttle service was prompt, lots of dock space for picking 'your' spot, yummy breakfast, beautiful view of Alma, friendly fisherman. If you enjoy fishing, you have to give it a try!

I make it a point to go to Alma once a year.The fishing float is great.They pick you up on the wisconsin side of the river,and they make hourly trips back and forth.Great fishing and they will fillet your fish for a small fee. they will even cook your catch for you.

Yesterday our family visited the Great Alma Fishing Float on the Mississippi River. Wow, we had such a great time!!! This family owned business is fantastic, from the ferry service, to the cafe, to the excellent fishing! The Fishing Float is a series of floating docks below the dam in Alma, WI. They make a wonderful breakfast called "The Mess" that you must try! There are lots of great spots along the docks to put in your line to catch bass, catfish, bluegill, northern, etc....If you don't like to fish there is still plenty to do. There is a dock that leads to the beach if you want to lake a little walk on land. There are gorgeous bald eagles to watch. There are other people to meet and visit with. They have a great website to check out if you want more information. Just enjoy the drive out to Alma and plan to make a day of it out on the float!
