this course is a very short ride out of town & is one of our all time favorite courses. friendly staff, great Bloody Mary's & amazing views!
This is a quality golf course and is very reasonable. The views of Lake Superior are breathtaking--sometimes so beautiful you forget about your game!I will be back to play it again next year for certain.
Spectacular views of Lake Superior & Apostle Islands on more than half the holes. This is NOT a long or especially difficult course. HOWEVER:* Strongly suggest that you play with a local golfer the first few times. There are many doglegs where the green is not visible from the tee, and local knowledge of where to aim tee shot (or in some cases, 2nd shot) is very important. You can hit the ball a long way but you could be in the woods if you are not clear where the green is...and the score card is not great on this.Several creeks in front of greens that are not clear from score-card. Again, local knowledge very valuable.
I played this course five years ago and it seemed on it's last legs. The pro shop was hanging on, the rental clubs were ancient and rusted, but the views were spectacular. I played again this year and the course was jam up in shape. You could tell that a lot of $ had been put in improvements. it was for sale five years ago and i assume from the changes that it has been bought. If you are in the area and looking for a place to play and here and Ashland are your best choices it is worth the fee. The course is in great shape the green fees are reasonable and the views are wonderful.
We golfed this course in August. The fog was really bad to start the round and you couldn't even see the golfers 100 yards in front of you. However, after the first couple of holes the fog lifted and we were good. There are some great scenic views of Lake Superior below. The course was in very good condition and this included the greens. One word of warning, the golf carts we were using seemed to have really sensitive brakes and with the lightest touch on them would bring the cart to a very quick stop. The course was wet when we played and when I tapped the brakes to slow down upon the beginning of a descent on a hill, my cart did a 360 and a half and I slid down the remainder of the hill backwards. Be careful ! Overall though, the course was very enjoyable and will definitely go back.
Our family of four enjoyed golfing multiple times during our vacation to Bayfield. Course was well maintained and the view were beautiful!
This golf course is well-maintained. The course is not overly challenging, and can be made slightly more or less challenging through choice of four different tee boxes. Many holes a somewhat narrow to add an extra dimension. I'm an average golfer, and I found the course enjoyable. The course, however, takes a back seat to the views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands which are available on most holes. This is one of the most scenic courses we've ever played. Overall, 18 holes with cart is fairly priced, and the course is not very crowded. We drove for 1:45 one-way to play this course and didn't regret one minute of the drive or the time on the course.
Very good day. The course is fair with a lot of risk / reward holes. Keep it in the fairways and you can score well. If not, bring a lot of balls. Fun course. But that isn't the main attraction. The views are incredible! It seems that every hole has an unbelievable view of Lake Superior. Madeline Island is clearly visible. Don't be in such a hurry to play that you miss the views.Staff was friendly and informative, even pointing out the best holes for photo ops. Great view off the deck.
This is one of the most beautiful courses in the USA, well maintained, challenging, and very reasonably priced. Just fabulous. Best course in northern Wisconsin by far.
Fun course. Lots of great views. Some challenging holes. Greens are interesting to read...good luck.
We went up there to take in the spectacular view of Lake Superior, not to golf. Although the course look fun
Incredible views on most every hole. Course needs work. BUT, with its low price and great views, I'm able to overlook some things. OH, and make sure you have lots of balls cuz you will probably lose a lot.
I have not played the course in a couple of years but was able to get back this August and the course is better than other. They have done so many course improvements to the course as well as the clubhouse. The views are still the best in the state. I love the new pro shop and all the unique golf items. I bought quite a few. The best shop for ladies clothing and fun stuff, I would go there just to shop. The girls in the pro shop very helpful and nice. if you have not played the course in a while, go back it was great.
The entire set-up is first rate. Courteous, attentive staff, beautiful views from many holes, and a well designed course make for a fun round. Stayed at one of the cabins rented by Winfield Inn and it was A-one. Front deck overlooked Lake Superior and the ninth hole for a gorgeous view. We were able to do a 4 hour round that still felt relaxing and leisurely. 10-minute trip into Bayfield to eat, shop, etc. Excellent, relaxing 3-night stay. Great hot dogs.
What a beautiful course. Well laid out and the views are amazing. I would love to have one of those houses with the big porches that are both on the course and have the beautiful views. We have already told a number of friends and coworkers about this place. Can't wait to go back again. Friendly staff and reasonable rates. A must play and see for the area.
