New location and set up is much better than old location. Nice wines and fun atmosphere. We talked to another couple visiting Cedarburg who have been there before as well.
We visited because of the Groupon, that is described in a few other reviews. Harald, one of the owners, was our server and was very enthusiastic and informative. First, the tastings were very generous pours, and Harald let us try a few of his special wines, in addition, to the 4 or 5 regular tastings. Second, they gave us our package and said we could open it and eat it there, with the tastings, or we could take it with us, which we did. It included 2 larger Logo Wine glasses, yummy cheese, spiced nuts and 6chocolate truffles. It also had 2 foil drip stops, which my husband was impressed with, which is saying a lot as he has most wine doodads and accessories. Third, we thought the wine was tasty and reasonable. It was crowded, but people were friendly and helpful.
The Chiselled Grape, located in historic downtown Cedarburg, serves tastings in a house which was coverted into a wine shop - adding to it's charming atmosphere. There was a group of us so seating was limited, since the place was busy, but we did eventually get an area to sample some of the numerous wines that are displayed throughout the shop. We met the owners who educated us on how and where they produce their wines. In addition to their own, they house many other wines including a wide selection of international wines. We had plenty of choices to sample and no pressure to buy (although most of us did, because of the tasty wines!). Was a nice way to start an evening out in Cedarburg.
Laura P's review misunderstands the Groupon and Living Social Offers. Yes, the winery offers wine tastings (4) and complimentary (5+) tastings for $5.00 per person However, with the Groupon Laura P purchased -she received 2 Logo Wine glasses; two drip stops; cheese, nuts, and truffles for two; and a wine tasting for 2. A great deal and an even better experience from my point of view! The place is hopping and a unique place in Cedarburg!
We bought a groupon, which included a wine glass, cheese and chocolates. The chocolates were excellent; the cheese had the consistency of wax. The pours were the smallest I've ever seen. However, they gave us more than 4 pours. Our groupon was for 4 pours.
Our experience was TERRIBLE!!! We paid $26.00 for a Groupon. The wine tasting , if we would have just walked in ,was only $5.00. The samples that we were given did not even cover the bottom of the glass, she had poured only a few drops. The wines that we asked to sample , they were out of. We were not served our cheese and chocolates with our so called samples, the little bit of cheese and chocolate they gave you was packaged to go. Would you not want your treats with your wine? The drip stop that we were given was nothing more than a round piece of paper. We have been to many wine tastings and have never had such a horrible experience. We spent more than what it was worth. We will never go back. We will never go back. So DISAPPOINTED! Also, no public restrooms.
The Chiselled Grape Winery Wines are appearing on menus of so many Wisconsin restaurants we just had to check their winery out! Amazing! The owners spent time with us us and shared their wines and craft. Will come again and again. Thanks for a lovely tasting and afternoon. Pours were generous and their signature "Festival Wines" and their "Little Red Dress" were outstanding.
We were waiting for a tour and tasting at Cedar Creek when we saw this place. We love all kinds of wine and wineries so decided to try it. It was just okay. Four tastings were $5, which is not bad, but the pours were so meager they could hardly be called tastings. Truly, I have had more generous pours for free when buying wine. They were also offered in a spirits glass (Glencairn) rather than a wine glass, making for an awkward tasting. What they saved with these paltry pours, they lost in goodwill and any further business. Afterwards, we went across to Cedar Creek, where for $5 we got a tour and five generous samples, followed by three more complimentary samples in the tasting room. These were accompanied by crackers, cheese, and chocolates. We bought a case of wine here, none at Chiselled Grape.
We visited this newly opened place and loved it. Owner Frederick knew our wine preferences just by asking us a few questions! He didn't pressure us to purchase items, was kind and patient. There is a multitude of selections and the place has a cheery atmosphere!!!
My husband and I were in town for a family function and it was the same time for the release of the red dress wine. We were so excited that we were able to attend this function. We find it to be great wine
Stopped in to sample a few of their wines. It turned out they were having a party for their newest wine coming out. They invited us to stay and we ended up having a great time. Will certainly go back. Unfortunatley is wasn't nice enough to sit outside, they have a very cute outdoor garden area that would be awesome in nice weather. This was a great find!!
First stop of our day, friendly service, tasted as much as we wanted. This is a brand new winery, two years old I believe. Lots of potential. As I understood it, they are bottling grapes from California until their vineyard and winery are up and running, so I would love to go back in a year or two to sample their own grapes. The wines they were selling were good to very good. I bought a bottle of Gewurztraminer, 2009, because I liked it so much. Reasonably priced as well. Here is the main reason I would go back... the entire operation is moving just up the road to a new location, and from the pictures they were displaying, it looks like it will be a great winery stop in the future.
So glad we stopped! The winery is located in an old schoolhouse and the wines are delicious. Friendly service and so close to other Cedarburg attractions.
The setting is very nice, indoors or out. The wines are excellent. The best part, however, is getting a tour and information about how the winery raises grapes in our very chilly climate. Great spot for conversation and relaxation.
I attended a wine tasting at the Chiselled Grape in Grafton. A fine selection of wines and great atmosphere. Everyone really enjoyed themselves.
