Hickory Hills has a delightful hometown feel and is nicely maintained. Not super hilly or flat, a good combination. It's our new favorite after losing Hillcrest.
This is a nice little course for people of all ages and abilities to go. My family holds our annual golf tournament here each Labor Day weekend, and we range in age from 3-83 years! I would highly recommend this course.
For being a smaller 18 hole course it has everything that we were looking for. The staff when we arrived at the course went out of there way to make sure that we were ready to go. Yes it has par3s and 4s it really was a good time. The staff was great, the greens and grounds were very well kept and they have a very nice patio were we hung out after our round. The following day we took our friends and children and it all went very well
This a relatively short 18 holes! You will use your driver on several holes, but it is also a great place to hone your irons. It is almost always in excellent shape! Easy to locate, south of Eau Claire on Hwy 93 (about 4-5 miles/10 minutes by car). This is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere here. The owner is affable, congenial and always willing to please his clients. I've never witnessed an unhappy golfer at this venue. Very walkable, a few small hills, but not many. Practice facilities are minimal; a small putting green by the 1st tee and an isolated (about 300 yards from the club house) putting green where you are able to practice chip and sand shots.
This is a par 62. The holes are shorter, but do offer some challenge. Good practice for shorter play. Greens are in nice condition and run true. Perhaps a little long, if you are used to playing higher level courses. It is easily walkable. We went on a weekday and played 18 in under 3 hours walking. I just wish they had water on the course, but many don't any more.
Hickory Hills is a great social type golf course. Not too hard, interesting holes, easy to see your next chat. People are very friendly and the fees are quite reasonable. I am however confused as to why this is the only golf attraction listed on Tripadvisor. There are many other courses in the area, harder and longer if that is what you are looking for, try...Wild RidgeMill RunHallie Country ClubHillcrest (Altoona)Princeton Valley (9 holes)Lake WissotaWild Ridge in particular is very, very challenging. Each course has something to offer.
Easier but fun golf course. Don't get pushed often. Easy to see where to hit. Friendly service. Good deals.
Hickory Hills is an executive length (par 3s and 4s) course about 5 miles south of Eau Claire on Hwy 93. The fairways are well maintained and lined with pines and maples and the rough is kept short enough that errant drives are still playable. The greens are fairly small and very challenging. The course takes full advantage of the available terrain with serveral elevated tees and greens providing very nice views of Pleasant Valley. The front nine has two smaller ponds and the back has a nice large one that are home to a variety of water fowl and marsh birds. The club house is stylized logs with large windows and plenty of room for gatherings and last year a 3 season pavilion was added. The vibe is very relaxed and family oriented. My son started coming with me when he was about 6 and he still finds plenty of challenge as a 15 year old. Hickory Hills is a First Tee Course and their instructors do a great job making golf fun and accessable to all ages and abilities. Hickory also has a variety of leagues ranging from a very laid back couples league to a hyper-competitive match play league. The owners truly love golf and the course is always the first one open in the spring and the last to close in the fall.
