Fireman's park have gone here since I was a little girl! Bring your own picnic basket enjoy the clearest lake waters's in Wisconsin. Never have to worry about little ones the water is not that deep. They keep the property very clean and bathrooms always immaculate!
Fireman's park has a large expanse of lawn with trees and picnic tables. The lawn ends at a modest size beach with very soft sand and moderate water temperature. There is plenty of shallow water for children to play in. There is a small concession stand and a bathroom facility. The beach and park were very clean.
Fireman's Park is just down from the Osthoff Resort and has a very nice beach and some of the clearest water I've seen in a lake. There are various watercraft (non-motorized) available for rental as well as motorized boating, skiing, etc. nearby. Bring your own food or purchase it at the shops nearby (literally across the street). This is a great family adventure.
I would agree with other reviewers however it i would consider a petite beach. When I think of Firemens Park/beach I think of the non motorized rentals and pontoon at the very near Oosthoff and motorized boat rental compete with tubing, water skiing, and wake boarding at nearby (with vehicle or walking) Victorian Village. VV boat rental comes with a pilot who knows what they are doing and can take newbies out to teach what ever kind of waterspout with completely provided equipment. VV has the big upper deck that can be seen just to the north of Firemens park. However I consider this a beach and not a playground.
I was pleasently suprised on my resent family day trip to this location. The beach is fantastic. It is located on the grounds of the Osthoff Hotel. The water is so crystal clear it's like you are swimming in some tropical ocean. Great to visit for all ages. There is a fenced off swim area for toddlers. Bring plenty of water toys because they don't supply any. Great beach, Great location & Crystal clear water. Well worth a visit.
I'm in Sheboygan, which is about 20 min drive. Good- It's fairly close, always clean, you can bring your own food and grill out or purchase drinks, beer, pizzas and snacks in the little hut down by the lake. The price is $3 for adults and $1 for kids (1 and under free), for regulars like us they do offer family summer passes. The grassy area is always very clean and pretty much bug free, no getting eaten alive by the lake. The water is always warm (compaired to The Great Lake) When they have their fireman's picnic and bands there is usually free admission, beer, food, and activities. The fireworks are usually on the Friday (wkend before or after the 4th of July), which is great for people who have other plans or work on the 4th. Bad-The bathrooms are at the top of the hill and the beach area is small and not very soft sandy, it's more like little gravel. The drive is inconvient from Sheboygan since someone decided to build 5 round abouts! The Ugly-Do not forget your Sunscreen! There is virtually no cover or shade. The trees they do have are very small or sparce. No big maples to provide cover. Best times to go are late in the season August and in the late afternoon after 3pm. That is when the beach is almost void of people esp. around dinnertime.
I live about 20 miles away and very close to Lake Michigan, but I choose to drive out to Fireman's park in Elkhart Lake. I love being able to lay out on the grass area or the sand area. I love how clean the lake is and that it has a nice sandy bottom. It gradually gets deeper, and has a nice shallow area that is sectioned off- for young children. It is a big park, so even when it is busy, you can find places to put your towels and lay down. The water gets nice and warm earlier in the year than Lake Michigan so you can swim all summer. The park is very clean and has flushing toilets that are kept clean as well. Well worth the entrance fee.
Very nice place to spend a relaxing afternoon. VERY CLEAN park. The lake is also very clean and clear. Everything seems to be kept up very nicely. Lots of activities to do within the park area. There is a small entrance fee, but well worth it.
My family and I annually go to Road America in Elkhart Lake for the Vintage Car Racing. It is my favorite weekend of the summer. My father and a friend of his spend most of the weekend at the racetrack, while my mother takes me and my little brother and sister to the Fireman's Park beach in Elkhart Lake. Anybody who goes to Elkhart Lake needs to go for a swim in the beautiful, clear lake, and it looks as though Fireman's Park is THE place to go. My 2-year old sister and 5-year old brother have a fun time building sand castles and playing in the water, while I like to bring a few friends from home and we either play on the volleyball courts or go paddleboating on the lake. Sometimes we have a picnic and use the grills to make hamburgers, or we'll just buy food from the concession stand. Fireman's Park is a great place to spend the day, and it is so clean and beautiful. This is a must-see place if you are in the area.
