First time we went to this museum, although we have visited the reservation for decades (our family is from here.) We decided to take the opportunity to see the artifacts that they have on display. And we were absolutely delighted to tour the museum - the collection of Menominee beadwork and historical artifacts are quite impressive. Many of the items on display are on loan from the Wisconsin Historical Museum. As a special accomodation to us, the docent took us into the archives to view some repatriated regalia from Chief Reginald Oshkosh (our grandmother's father), which we found so exciting and deeply moving to see. It's a nice, small museum even if you don't get the extra-special descendents' tour!
When we got there the place was a ghost house! We walked around and the only people we ran into didn't know anything about the museum. It was a waste of our time to drive back in from Shawno. Even if they were closed it would have been nice to have posted a sign so that visitors were aware.
