We spend time in the Edgerton area Groupon provided the added incentive to visit this time. We were pleasantly surprised to find such an interesting museum in a relatively small town of Milton (more correctly Milton Junction). The building has been mostly preserved as it was in mid-1800s and is unique by way of its design and construction. Be sure to allow time to take in all of the historical items on display in the museum. Enjoy!

We found this museum on TripAdvisor and arrived unsure what we would find. We loved what we found. The hexagonal coaching hotel is fascinating and contains many working objects that people used for entertainment in the late 1800s (music maker, early 3-D viewer, etc) - our guide really made them come alive. The Underground Railroad tunnel is astonishing, as was the news the Sojourner Truth visited the house. This is a special place well worth the drive from Madison.

We learned a lot about the settlement of Wisconsin, about how inns worked in the 19th century, and about the underground railroad. Group was age 10 through 70, and we all found it interesting.

Rob provided me and a friend with a very informative tour of this well-maintained slice of 1800s life, with an incredible array of knowledge and facts at his disposal. Could answer any question. Highly recommend, it is one of the only tourable underground railroad sites in Wisconsin. Would be great for anyone with an interest in Civil War history, or children in school studying this particular time period.

The Milton House is a great piece of small town history. More than the Underground Railroad -Local history as well. A must see if you're in the area.

The Milton House and Museum is a must in the study of American history. Slaves escaping from their masters in the South stopped at the Milton House (a stagecoach stop) and literally went underground.into a tunnel. It's called The Underground railroad. The hotel has been restored; and museum added in recent years. Tours by knowledgeable are given throughout the day. I live in Milton. I know my daughter being a tour guide during her summers in college had a major impact on how she sees our history. While this area of Wisconsin is on the way for traveler's heading to the north this is a good place to take a break on that trip

We went through the tour of this historic home with my 15 year old son who recently broke his foot and needed to use a wheelchair. The staff was very helpful in accommodating his needs and the majority of the tour was wheelchair accessible, with the exception of the tunnel. We found the tour, house, tunnel and guide to be very interesting and although we are history buffs, we did learn some things.

This was an excellent tour. Rob was our tour guide and answered all the questions we had. I didn't know much about the Milton House prior to the tour. Very interesting to see an actual hotel from the late 1800's and learn about Mr. Goodrich and his family. Information about the Underground Railroad was good and walking through the tunnel to the log cabin really helped me experience history.

Glad to be able to see history of Underground Railroad. History buffs will enjoy coming here. Milton is a nice small town. Take time to see the town.

we've all visited here for our school field trips, but coming back as an adult gave me a better chance to learn what this place was about..the under ground tunnels the tours and tour guide were worth the trip

Only one other couple on our tour, so the guide was able to answer all our questions. Guide was very well informed and did an excellant job. Very nice displays and a great gift shop. I look forward to going back again! The tour is well worth the cost!

I visited this site in March 2012. You get an excellent feel on what life would have been like if you were a run away slave. The information is wonderful too. It's a great place for families.

Places where escaped slaves were hidden. The curators were very well informed. This is an important historic site.

Not exciting unless you like that sort of thing. If you do this would be a great place to stop and visit.

Great historic place to see. I went there with my sons class and it's no small order to keep there attention, but they did. You even go through a tunnel used by the underground railroad. A real must see.
