Wolf River Campground's main attraction is floating the river. They give you a tube to rent, which also includes a shuttle to the top of the river, then you end back at the beach where you started/parked. Very convenient and they'll even sell you beer/ice!Out of all the properties to tube, WRT is definitely the party scene (especially on the weekends). If you want to get wasted and socialize, this is the spot. If you want to nap on a tube and relax in the quiet, I would suggest the Peshtigo or Apple river instead of here.Wolf is notoriously shallow and rocky - while it can be annoying at times when your group gets stuck, it also allows groups to easily stop and socialize. The water level varies every week, but even when it's "high" I guarantee you'll have to get out and pull your group at least once.DO bring cheap sunglasses you wouldn't mind losing, water shoes or junk tennis shoes since the river bed is mainly rocks, plenty of drinks since you could be out there 3-4 hours if you hang out, and no glass (they check coolers).Again, every weekend is loud party music, yelling, swearing, dancing, and not a good place for children.Security does patrol the river regularly, and they are all extremely nice. I always see sherrifs at the end and on the road looking for drunk drivers. Be safe and bring a designated driver!

We took the short tube trip on a Wednesday. It wasn't crowded. Have been there on a weekend and it is NOT a family friendly place. Tubing is packed with mostly drunk people using foul language and displaying completely inappropriate 'skin'...if you know what I mean! Stay away on weekends and holidays...it's disgusting!!

We took the short trip yesterday (9/4/14) and had the river all to ourselves. The water was a bit chilly at first but great after a short time. Water is high so the going was easy. We have taken this trip as well as the longer one a number of different times over the years and have always enjoyed it. The water can get quite low which means more navigating but then you can see the fish & underwater landscape better. The staff have always gone out of their way to please. A friend lost his ring in the sand by the exit - we thought it was gone for sure. But someone turned it in & they sent it to us at no charge.

We did the short trip on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend with our 7 & 9 year olds. There were plenty of 20 somethings drinking and having fun, but nothing that interefered with our enjoyment of the trip. Water shoes are a must. Flip flops would be useless. The water was a good height from all the rain, though we occasionally got hung up on some rocks and branches.Don't be afraid to bring to your kids here.

We went here with about 8 other families and had a mix of tents, RV's and pop-up campers. We arrived on a Wednesday and discovered there were not many groups there. Our site was level, clean and included an above ground fire-ring. The grounds are nice and well maintained. We stayed on the upper level of the campgrounds (not near the river). I had been hear about 4 years earlier and I could definitely tell they've put some money into the place, complete with a paved road throughout the campground. The place has alot to do; swimming in the river, volleyball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, corn-hole, paved basketball court and even a video arcade for the kids. Oh and there's river tubing too ;) A group of the Dads (6 of us) took advantage of their kayaking trip as well (which was excellent). Like a few other reviewers out here had said, this place turns into another animal on the weekends. The first few nights were pretty calm but come Friday night (and even more so on Saturday) the place turns into party central for people from around the area. I would say the groups staying on the grounds are ok but the river tubing attracts people of all sorts. Yes, you and your kids will probably witness drunk people and other making bad decisions on the weekends... consider yourself forewarned!Overall a great place. Yes, I would go back, but only with a large group of other families.

I read the mixed reviews before we went, but they did not prepare me fully for what we experienced here. This is essentially a Frat party on a river. I had made 2 phone calls, in which I clearly stated we were coming as 3 families, and the staff did not give us any warnings on the phone calls or when we arrived and paid. AFTER we had paid, when they were checking coolers prior to us getting on the bus, a staff member said we shouldn't bring our kids here on Saturdays--not very helpful after we had already paid for 15 people. I expected people to be drinking. We did NOT expect people to be falling over drunk, cheering on people for stripping, beer bongs being passed around, very crude language...Besides the experience of shore to shore drunk people, the tubing itself was not at all relaxing. Despite being told the water levels were "great", the entire trip was quite shallow and rocky. We frequently got hung up on big rocks and logs across the width of most of the river. Our kids left with feet cut up and never wanting to go tubing again. There was nothing relaxing or peaceful about it, and they only wildlife you will see is the drunk human variety. Just fair warning! If that's what you are looking for, this is your place. Unfortunately, it wasn't what we were looking for and we won't return.

Although we did not take advantage of the campground or restaurant on this trip, we did have a really nice experience tubing on the Wolf River. We arrived mid afternoon and were able to do the 1.5 hour trip twice before the last shuttle went out at 4:00 PM. For a very reasonable fee, they supply a tube per person plus an additional closed raft to float your cooler along with you for any beverages or food you bring along. Please note that glass is not permitted for safety reasons and the shuttle drivers will check your cooler. They will also supply you with a garbage bag if needed to avoid littering. All tubes come with straps attached so your entire group can "tie up" together. Most of the tubes are your standard "doughnut" shape, but they did offer some lounge type rafts for better back and neck support as well. The water level was a little low this time of year, so the pace was slow going, but relaxing. Also the long- 4 hour trip was closed. When you return your tube at the end of the day, and they take your wrist band, they also give you tokens for $1 to use at their store, which we used for ice cream. This was a stop on a 3 day motorcycle trip for us, so we appreciated the coin showers and changing areas available as well. We hope to do this again next year, but we'll likely camp next time.

We recently tubed down the Wolf River through the campground. It was four adults & two children, ages 6 & 9. The cost was $84. The river was packed with drunk people; swearing, women flashing, many people openly smoking pot & people even vomiting right in the river as you're floating by them. I have a 2nd home in Waupaca so spend a lot of time there, but next time will try floating down the Crystal River with Dings Dock!

Lots of fun. No crowds. Boating, fishing, birding, botany. If you don't like any of these things, it's always perfect for just opening a book and losing yourself between the pages. what more could you want?

We went on a Saturday. The lines were long to sign the concent form, pay and get the tube. Recommend getting there early. The river is rocky, so water sandels are recommended. This is an activity were people do a lot of drinking, so I wouldn't recommend this for family or children.

The campground is really well kept. Check in was a breeze and the staff were really fun. A nice little "convenience" store on site if you forget the basic items. Loved the fact the locals sold campfire wood on the side of the road. We found a local who gave a great deal! Sites are very close together so if your looking for isolation, this is definitely not the camp ground you want to stay at. Drunk college kids during the weekend. It was a shame to see all the garbage floating down the river. Very disappointing. An overall nice mini vacation. Just be prepared for crowds.

Had a great time at this place on several different occasions. The campground is well kept and clean, staff is professional.. I look forward to returning many summers to come.

All is well, fun time, too many drunk college students on the weekends. If you take the chair type raft, be sure you have two oars to paddle and steer.

Well run business! I have only been to the restaurant and river tubing adventure, usually go two times a season. It gets VERY crowded, best to go on a week day. There are two trips offered, long and short; the time on the river depends upon upon river water levels. The later in the season/less rain, the river gets rocky and the long trip may not be offered. One can do as many trips in a day as one wants! Tube rental includes the bus ride to the insertion point on the river. Coolers are allowed, I have my own floating cooler and that is allowed at no extra cost. One can rent a raft for a cooler at an additional fee. All coolers are checked, no glass bottles allowed on the river. Wrist bands are issued when paying for the trip, colors designate over/under 21. When one is done floating for the day, turn in your tube, the attendant will cut off the wrist band and give you a token for a dollar off purchase in the restaurant. Cool deal!

Went camping this past weekend for the first time in years. Took our teen and preteen children. The campsites were very nice (got a cancellation a month prior, right on the river) and the bathrooms were SUPER clean, esp. given the crowds of people there. If you are a family with younger kids, you may want to think about going during the week. We were surrounded by young partygoers..it was a little bit of a surprise..but everyone was nice and although our neighbors were partying well past 12am, apparently I was the only one in our family that woke up to the music/laughter! Even so, we had a great time, and the tubing was lots of fun. We fished a little off the bank and caught a pike, a bluegill and a sucker...and saw a few bass. The staff at the "clubhouse" were super nice. We would definitely come back next year...just during the week when it's a little quieter.
