Beautiful! Pretty well maintained. Connects with the friendship trail, so you really can go for miles and miles. Different small park and rides along the trail. Goes from Oshkosh up to Hortonville. During winter it turns to the snowmobile trail so don't try to ski or snoeshoe! There may be areas that aren't, but I wouldn't know. During nice weather, you can walk, run, bike or bring your horse! Dogs are welcome, but please clean up after your amimals if they relieve themselves on the trail itself. In the beginning of spring, there are usually more potholes and run off marks, so watch your step while running. They do fill fairly quickly though. Highly recommend! Bring bug spray if you're going as the sun sets because there are swampy areas you are going by, especially in the town of Clayton. If you are heading toward Oshkosh, make sure to stop at fratellos which is right off the trail! We do this yearly as a bike ride from the town of Clayton. Love riding and running the trail!!!

I bike on the trail throughout the summer and walk it in the winter. The trail is fairly level seeing it is a rail trail (no more than a 5% grade) and crushed gravel and grass. I 've biked the entire trail a number of times, from Hortonville to Oshkosh and its great. Just watch out for horse poop from the Medina stop South for a couple miles.

Nice old rail trail. People with horses and dogs use it so you have to watch your step or just clean your shoes when you get home. Lots of deer, hawks, rabbits and other wildlife using the trail. Every mile or two it crosses a road so you need to look for cross-traffic. Good for cross country skiing as snowmobiles also use it and it is pretty flat. Mosquitoes can be bad at dusk in summer. Friendly people along entire trail. No outhouses, but plenty of bushes to go behind.

I have taken advantage of the Wiowash Trail for biking during my prolonged visit to Oshkosh. What I like about it is that 1. It is wide enough for two-way traffic2. It is mostly flat (seems to follow an old rail bed3. It is usually not very crowded4. It runs for over 20 milesWhat makes it only average is1. There isn't much in the way of scenery amid acres and farms, other than Butte des Mortes Lake.2. It is most gravel which requires more exertion than a paved trail. (Of course, this also makes it more natural.)

Bicycles, horses, snowmobiles [in season] and dog walking through the woods on a firmly packed dirt trail on an abandoned railroad bed. You can see and hear wildlife and see farm fields off to the side.

Love to bike the Wiowah Trail, you van bike from Oshkosh to New London, WI. Pack a lunch and water for a long ride. You can go for a short ride or full day of enjoying nature. Great place for any age rider or walker.

This is a great trail for a family bike ride...you can see a little bit of everything, and really enjoy being outdoors. This is really an asset to the city of Oshkosh, especially the additional trail that now goes over the Butte des Morts Bridge.

The trail starting from Hwy 41 into Oshkosh has been widened and improved greatly. It ties into the river beatification project that Oshkosh is developing with very nice walkways all along the river, eventually ending at the old Pioneer harbor point on Lake Winnebago.

A beautiful improved trail that stretches about 18 miles. Goes into Oshkosh and then North. Great scenery either wooded or along Lake Buttes de Morts stretching into farmland to the North.

Perfect for biking, running and walking the dog. I parked near Fratellos and walked the trail, over HWY 41 on the bridge, and looped back through the city to my car. So interesting. Was about a 6 mile loop.

It's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of every day life. This trail goes along the river then along the lake and through wooded areas with bridges and wild life. It goes on and on.

Great for walking, enjoying nature. A great trail for bicycling or even horseback riding. Must check it out. Multiple starting locations with parking.

We ride round trip from Oshkosh to Larsen many times during the season. This trip is always a great experience!

I usually walk on this trail from the University along the river. Sometimes stinky there, but that's not the trails fault. Very peaceful walk, not too many people. The trail surface varies in different spots, and can be hot on a sunny day- take water along. Sinage could be a bit better in places, that is why I didn't rank 5 stars. Crosses a busy road north of the University, and you have to squirrel your way thru a neighborhood to catch back up to the trail. Otherwise very nice. More people should use it.

I like to find a decent run when I 'm out of town, and this one more than filled the bill. Started in town near the U, ran north 3 miles, over US41 on a wall-separated path on a bridge, and along the Fox, past the edge of a light industrial, then behind a swank neighborhood. Mostly along the water, like lake Butte De Morts, or out in the nowhere. Well maintained trail, occasional dogwalkers, and obviously used by bikes, but plenty wide. Trees along both sides protect from the wind that comes in off the water most places, but when there's an opening, that wind can push you sideways. Loved it. (btw, some signs spell it Wiowash, and some Wiouwash. Who knows?)
