the shitty barn sessions

The S- Barn is a hoot! it is an old, sort of ramshackle barn that has been tuned up a bit to make it a performance space. It has a small bar with a limited selection of beers, but the options include some excellent craft beers from the Furthermore Brewery. The beer selection included Hamm's Beer, $2 per can and Grain Belt, $3 per can. The bartender was jovial and the rest of the staff were just genuinely friendly and nice. The performance space is pretty basic, and you need to bring your own lawn chair, but the system worked just fine on the night that a group of 4 of us attended a show by JP Harris and The Tough Choices. The band was from Nashville, and greatly exceeded our expectations and was well worth the cover charge ($12 in advance, $14 day of show!) Savvy regulars seem to get there early, stake out a good seat with a lawn chair, and then relax on the green outside or cook their own meal on a communal grill. You supply the food, and the Barn supplies the grill, ample charcoal, paper plates, utensils, and condiments. Overall, you can have a nice evening, a good meal, some very cheap or some very tasty beers, and hear some excellent music- for $20-$40 (depending upon your need for decent beer and how many you drink, of course).
