I would have to disagree with the prior review. I think the new owners have done a lot to improve the property. I stopped there with three ladies, all in our fifties and sixties, so we remember the Red Mill from years past. The gift shop had slowly degraded over the years into a very tired, cluttered, dusty remnant. We were all hesitant to stop, but did so on a whim because of the lovely setting. All four of us were impressed by the changes. Gone is all the dusty clutter. The building has received a major renovation. The product lines are upgraded, and of improved quality. We stopped in early December of 2014. I would have given the store a higher rating, but as the store owner explained, they were still in the process of getting items into the store. They had put a lot of hours in themselves, redoing the floors and building. I think they deserve credit for the improvements they made, and think they are worth a stop.

My family has been visiting the Red Mill since we've been kids-my parents visited when they were kids. This place used to be my place of peace, my little calm down place (granted it's an hour ten minutes from me), used to be a wonderful homey holy place. Just getting out of my car just serenity overcame me. The old guy that I always knew to run the place must've sold it in the year that I didn't go there. (A lot of crap dealing with college and trying to work full time with full time school) When I went back (being engaged) the place had overgone a huge overhaul...and it was for the WORST. Now instead of it having been the 500$ it had ALWAYS been to get married there, now it was like 1700$ for 25 people! The chapel in the woods and covered bridge looked fake & too new. The rustic charm was completely gone. The gift shop no longer has an antique/old time charm feel to it. Everything is too bright and too commercialized...there was no more real rock candy candy. M&Ms and Skittles were everwhere. I asked the lady about it and she kind of brushed me off. She said they'd "get all the crap in storage" back up "but only the stuff that didn't look old". Mind you this lady is about mid 50s or mid 60s. She felt so fake and they took off the big original door to the gift shop. Now it's some stupid fake door. The Red Mill cats-that always were around-were no longer there...she said Snoopy (the current RM cat) was out and about....but I didn't see Snoopy at all & Snoopy seems to always find me every time I'm there. It's HORRIBLE what they've done to the Mill. The lady claimed they were "restoring" it to the "way it looked in the 70s". Well I described this to my parents (who were married in 75) and they said it was nothing like that. I showed them pictures too & they too, were horrified at what they'd done. This place no longer feels special or fun. They took the holiness away from it. If you have ever been here prior-you know there were ALWAYS all those pictures of angels and of the rumors of the place being benignly haunted (by angels). This place feels like just any other run of the mill coorporate building. The lady that worked the till (who I guess was new co-owner with her husband) had NO sincerety to her.I still am feeling a large part of me dying. It feels like the uniqueness of The Red Mill has been raped and left for ruins.

The shop was closed but we didn't know this when we found the gate to the garden and chapel. I had looked online for places to see and we had been looking for a covered bridge. It only gave vague references to this online and no mention of this place. This is it! Found incredibly by mistake!

This is a beautiful place! I was unclear on where to go for the museum, and the employees were not particularly eager to help, but I'm glad we stopped by. There had been a wedding earlier in the day, and I think there's a chapel inside as well. Nice spot!
