We attended the Bob and Tom Comedy all-stars. The sound for stand up comedy was excellent. The interior is fabulous.
Lots of great shows, the price isn't always right, but I constantly watch to see who is coming and when the price is right it is certainly worth checking out a show.
Thanks so much for your review. We greatly appreciate your support of The Grand, and hate that you had a negative experience at Trampled by Turtles. One item that I'm working on as I begin my tenure here at The Grand is making sure that we provide the best customer experience for all of our shows, be it the highest of fine arts or a fun night of music or comedy. We'll be working on that in the months to come, so I hope you'll return to The Grand soon.-Sean Wright, Executive Director
We saw/heard the comedy of Henry Cho, fantastic, lots of good, clean humor, we laughed all night long.
We visit family in the area on a regular basis and have seen a nice variety of entertainment available for a city the size of Wausau.
The Arts Block/Grand Theater and the Wausau Performing Arts Foundation staff are a treasure located in the north central region of Wisconsin that offer locals and visitors fine entertainment throughout the year. My wife and I have never been disappointed with the offerings at the Grand and have had the opportunity to be intimately involved in scheduling and participating in two events held at the Grand the past two years. Working closely with the staff at the Grand has been truly a pleasure. The vision to restore the old Grand Theater has resulted in a beautiful theater and facility for formal and informal events which offer artistic and cultural experiences for all ages of the wider community. Visitors to the Wausau area will not be disappointed if they check the performance schedule and include and evening at the Grand as a highlight of their time in Wausau. The Arts Block/Grand Theater is a major attraction and shines bright as a true gem in the city of Wausau!
Magestic yet intimate old style theatre that hosts current talent and relevant shows. Well attended and well kept. Rumor is the dressing room is haunted but I've been there many times and have never spotted a ghost.
was here for a dance competition. no concessions such as food-food, but had alcoholic beverages ready..weird.they didn't open the balcony either, people had to stand on the main level, was pretty uncomfortable.
Old style theater in immaculate shape, we went for a concert for our anniversary while visiting Wisconsin. Great sound and seating and located right in the center of town around a park. Plenty of nearby restaurants to make a night of it. The Grand offers pre show and intermission cafe and bar services.
Beautiful historical building - if you are in town try to catch a show if only to see the inside. You actually have legroom unlike the show I saw in NYC. No bad seat in the house
Our family has been taking advantage of the superb Grand Theatre events for many, many years. The Arts Block in totality is a shining gem in our magnificent north woods. Each season offers something for most everyone. Several performances stand high in our memory...Chris Botti and the Mikwaukee Symphony were as good as it gets!!! We want to use this forum to thank all the community for preserving this immeasurable Fine Arts venue. May it be here for many successive generations. It's preservation is a barometer of our thoughtful humanity.
Very nice theater, good seating and viewing. Everyone there is extremely friendly, courteous and helpful.
This is a modern theater with an old time feel. I once worked shows there and have viewed the ins and outs of the place. The crew works very hard to put on the very best shows.
Seating is comfortable but small. When this place was built people were quite a bit smaller than they are now so the seats can be challenging to be comfortable. The performances are varied and we normally see two or three each year. Always enjoyable.
We recently attended Swan Lake ballet at the Grand Theatre. We were able to choose our seats and had very good aisle seats on the side of the theatre. We enjoyed a glass of wine before the performance and were able to bring a drink into the Theatre with us. My only concern is the parking around the Theatre. We parked about 3 blocks away in a public parking lot. Parking seemed to be located on the streets around the Theatre. Get on their website and receive alerts on upcoming shows.
